I wish I had a camera with me a few years back. We had a local buck retain his rack into the Spring. Saw him traveling with some does. He was a 6 point that would probably make book, if you went for that sort of thing. One of those deer that you immediately notice how tall his tines are.

This is a big 'ol 6 my buddy killed on our place back in 2005.

Brock

Here is a 7 pointer that is fairly good size for here in deep south...has two small kickers so I could technically call him a 9....but basically a 7 pointer.

7 pts don't count Brock. He's got too many points for this thread.     :nono:      :D

I really thought there would be more long spikes or big forks shown. Don't any of you shoot deer that aren't 8pts?

I have quite a few short spikes and small forks.  And I rarely shoot deer that are 8 points.  I typically try to keep it around 5 points or less.

I've long thought that backstrap length/weight should be included in total P&Y scores.  I've killed a few slicks that would have easily made the record books.

Thats an absolute giant.  I'd rather shoot that deer than a booner.  A huge six has always been on my bucket list.
Do or do not.  There is no try.

This old Mule Deer had a body to match his headgear. When I spotted the buck across a canyon he was with several other and he looked like a buffalo in a herd of ponies!!! He was way past his prime and almost toothless.
