For those of you lucky enough to own both Cheyenne and Shawnee recurves, which is your favorite? I've got an identical pair, 60", 'A' risers with 'D' limbs,(although riser length differs), 46lb., boo cores, SBD strings. I'll admit that I vacillate between the two worse than a high school girl.  I'd say the Cheyenne may be a tad more forgiving due to be more deflexed and the Shawnee a tad faster, but that's my subjective, untested opinion.  I'm going to try some carbon/foam limbs on one of them and I already know the other one is going to be pissed!

I think the riser shape of the Cheyenne is better suited for a recurve. The straighter riser of the Shawnee is better suited to a longbow. My Ilf has both, and I tend toward the recurve limbs for that one as well due to the forward riser.

My favorite bow out of all I have tried is my Cheyenne recurve. I have shot a buddies Shawnee with LB limbs quit a bit also. Here is what I can tell you. ITS ALL ABOUT THE LIMB CORES! I had two sets of wood core recurve limbs for my Cheyenne and with them it was just ok. Then I got a set of foam core curve limbs which made it the best bow I have ever shot. With that said the Shawnee foam core limbs were too bouncy/limp for me. I like the wood core Shawnee limbs better. My suggestion is to go with some Cheyenne foam cores first.

Hope that helps.

I have a Morrison ILF bow with MAX1 limbs. I guess the grip is  pretty similar to a cheyenne, or am I wrong?
All I can say is: Its an awesome bow!

See if he will build you an Arapaho:) I love mine

Nomad,
I thought Arapaho were the recurve limbs for the take-down Shawnee.  Was/Is there a
Shawnee one-piece?

Bob still has the Arapaho form in his garage. I saw it with my own two eyes over the winter. I haven't seen one for sale in ages and I look (alot). I think if enough of us ganged up on him we could get him to blow the dust off it ! Don't tell him I said this    :saywhat:

A new form has been made with the Max1 limb design. Just haven't had time to build one yet.

I had a one piece arapaho like the one above that had a pine cone on the grip. It's a heck of a bow.I sold it like dummy. In my book thats the best 50 style recurve.
Back to the post....Cheyenne.

I'm a longbow shooter so I like the Shawnee & ILF with longbow limbs...especially my 13" ILF gen3 metal riser that I re-ground the grip low & very thin...tippit

Leather on the sight window side keeps any arrow clank noise down.  Plus a very low wrist narrow grip re-work on my knife grinder.

Finally, Ya gotta dress it up a little from your basic black  :)

I prefer the longbow limbs on my Shawnee riser.  Tried the recurve limbs and didn't care for them with this riser.  ~Steve
