gday guys. got to retune some bowfishing arrows i have to a new setup. i had a quick shot and under water it planes to the left. i'm right handed. how does it work again? plane to the left is stiff and to the right is weak or vice versa?

You got a good memory, for RH shooters left is too stiff.

well this arrow isn't going to work then.
it a shokR solid carbon arrow at full length with a gator grapple point with broadhead. can't get much heavier head than that.
and that's out of my 69# bow. what bow could you use these things out of???
i'll have to put it on a fibreglass shaft

I never could, shoot the carbon fishing arrows.
I was shooting 60# they work good on the compound bows.
I don't think you can straighten the fiberglass .

Clint, did you try to reposition the head? That might make a difference too. When I buy my fiberglass shafts I always spin test them at the shop first. Some are a lot straighter than others. Good luck.

i haven't put the head on the fibre glass shaft yet. but it's clearly bent.

Did you try to reposition it on the carbon shaft to see if that helps? I found on some heads it made a differnce which way the blades were facing. Just a thought. Good luck.

Buddy, you'd better order a couple fibreglass arrows pronto!

ozy clint

chef- it's ok, i have others i can use. i'm going to have to buy another fibreglass shaft to mount the gator grapple on that's all. failing that i can take the point off one of the shafts i have and use it.

not long now brother..........

Not familiar with the head you're using, but I do know that some heads will cause the arrow to plane due either to their design or being slightly off center.

calgarychef

I've shot some fish pretty deep undr the water and didn't have any problems with planing but then I didn't have a broadhead on the end of the arrow.  I bet if you lose the broadhead it'll quit planing.  Do you have one of those pointy tips with the 3 sides ground off them?
