Does anyone have any experience with the PSE Blackhawk recurve bow?  I see that it is a bargain priced bow, but is it a decent shooter/killer?

What experience do you have with the PSE Longbows?

Hey, gobler. No experience with the bows, but welcome to the TradGang.  :archer:
Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm
not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

I haven't owned one but I bought a Samick sage and was really impressed with it. And the sage is also cheaper than the Blackhawk.

Several years ago a friend of mine new to traditional archery bought one. It was a suprisingly great shooter for the money. You might like it a great deal.

That said, you can probably find a "shooter grade: classic bear bow for the same price. Look around, shoot bows....one of them will feel perfect.

Welcome Gobbler!  I shot one at a local archery shop and thought it was okay, but for the same money, possibly al ot less you can find a real shooter on the classifieds here or in your area.  I just picked up a sweet 1969 Bear Grizzly from craig's list for $40!  The best part was, I got to shoot it first, one of the smoothest short bows I've shot and at that kind of price, how can you go wrong!  Take your time, look around and shoot as many bows as you can.
That's why they call it hunting....

I have an OLDER PSE Blackhawk 50# T/D I bought in the early 90's. I Think it is a Samick, made for PSE. It is a rugged bow, draws smooth and flings those arrows. I can't speak for the new PSE, but the ones I have seen don't look like Samicks to me. The Samick Sage is a very good bow, and hard to beat at that price. I have one of those too, in 45#.

Some of the PSE T/D bows are also Greatree bows. I think both are made by Kaya in Korea.

The Greatree Mohegan is a PSE Razorback and the Greatree Pride is the PSE Wolverine. The Greatree dealer tells me that the PSE Blackhawk is the same as the Greatree Deer Slayer. Each of those bows are pretty well reviewed for their price range and application.

I haven't shot any of the PSE bows, but I've shot a Greatree Goshawk 45# with an Angel String and a Highlander (also 45#). Both shot well and seemed pretty well made for their price.
