Picked up a Kwyk Styk and I need a new stringer.  What stringer is best for a static tip recurve?

Webster...that's the only stringer that left my shop with every custom Kempf bow.

I had a custom made TD recurve with static tips, I used a Webster stringer to string it.  Was not fun to string at all, actually pretty scary.      I left mine strung all the time. It was strung when I traded it.  

Cup and rubber block. The safest way to go. Webster is real tricky on a static tip. I have both. Cup and block is real easy.

Selway cup and block always.  Tried a cup to cup strap type once three weeks ago.  My static limb is now in two pieces.  Trust me.

My boywer recommends a Thunderhorn Stringer/cup and block style.

The lower cup holds the string on the groove nice and tight.

Thunderhorn or Selway only !!!

Doowop,you might want to retract that statement,the bow,he is referring about was mine 3 weeks ago,and I have 3 more static tips on the rack just like it,so be careful what you post,ya just might be wrong.We all make statements that we are not sure about,me being one.5 Hail Mary's and you are forgiven.....floodman

I have two static tip recurves, a Morrison Cheyenne and a Sheepeater Spirit.  Both of them are strung with a Selway cup and block type stringer.  Never had a problem and always wonder what the hooplah is about stringing statics.  Seems easy to me with this stringer.

Jerry, you are a better man than I. I wouldn't even think of tryin it on my 3 Dryads. No problem with my other bows. I would realy like to see your technique. I am never to old to learn new tricks.

Well if I ever saw someone push/pull one of our statics I'd take it away and never give it back.

Block and cup is the only safe way for the shooter and the bow IMHO.

Just my $.02 worth and I have only one static tip.

I initially tired stringing it with a cup-cup type stringer and saw the upper limb tip starting to twist sideways. I backed off immediate and I'm sure I was the bad guy - not lifting straight up. It scared me badly enough that I use only a cup and block stringer and (maybe because it scared me badly enough to be more careful) have had no more problems.

second the cup and block type as the only way to go.  That's all I use on my Sovereigns

Thunderhorns bow stringers the best!!!

I use a tip to tip cup stringer on my Talons but the limbs are extremely stable horizontaly.
Having never strung the bow model you own I would reccomend a cup and block stringer for safety.

For twenty or so years I strung everything from a Bear recurve to a lemonwood long bow by hand and never twisted a limb. I guess I'm pretty dumb but I was unaware of any bow I couldn't string by hand. In the last two decades of course I was advised of the error of my ways and how lucky I had been to string bows these countless times without problems. Consequently, I converted to a cup and block stringer exclusively and sleep much better. My Dad laughed at me for using it but I have to agree it is in my opinion the safest way to protect your investment.

Where is the best location for the block on the limb?
