Just thought I'd say Hi. New to the site and new to Archery. I started reading and learning about Traditional Archery on this site last night. I've read books and magizines on it for years.Hard to soak it all in.I know I'll have alot of questions. I'll tell ya'll from the get go I appreciate any and all help. I really don't have any one to break me in. I have Deer hunted for around 30 years.Rifle and Black Powder. Bum shoulder was fixed a few years ago so I'm ready to try and learn the art of stick and string. No intentions of taking it to the woods this year Just backyard target shooting for stress relief. I'm the primary caregiver for a 83 year mother in Law 24/7 and have a lot of stress to relieve.

Hi, GH. Welcome from Missouri. I've been shooting since the 8th grade and I'm 67, so you know I LOVE to shoot. You've picked a very good outlet for stress relief, start at very short distances so there is no frustration with missing the target, or it defeats the purpose.
Again, welcome to the TradGang!  :archer:
Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm
not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

I'm from Camden in Benton county.West Tn Ky Lake area.
1st question. My Draw length for a compound was measured at 28". I read the Newbie article several times last night .If I understood it correctly my draw length will be less with a traditional Bow.No Bow shops close enough to get to . Any suggestions on what I should get ??
Question #2 .The Dominant eye test revealed that even though I'm a lefty my right eye is dominant. Will I have to shoot right handed to be accurite ?? Or are there any tips /tricks to overcome this ??

Welcome aboard sir! Maybe there will be some folks close to you that can help you out.
If you are for sure right eye dominant I would try to shoot right handed since you aren't going to try to get in the woods this year. By next year you should be good to go hunting wise if you do make that transition.

I'm shopping MacBow.I want to make sure I get the right specs. I'm not able to travel to the big city to try different ones out.Have to stay close to home to care for mom.The wife can't lift and move her around.
I shot a compound in my younger years. Then started having shoulder problems and had to give it up.Several Docs told me there was nothing wrong. Finally found the right one and had a 5" spur removed.I'm ready to get serious about it again.

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

Welcome GardenerHunting.  Enjoy your new adventure in trad archery.  Be careful......it can be very addictive!  Go light with a new bow.  Lots of people make the mistake of trying to start out with too heavy a draw weight.  Many, many really knowledgeable people here that can be a huge help.  Cheers!

You couldn't have found a better resource for learning about this sport.  I'm sure that there is someone down your way who would love the opportunity to help you learn how to shoot.  From experience, there is nothing that can compare with shooting with someone who knows what they are doing.  This is a great community, just ask, someone will step up to the plate and get you  flinging arrows in style!
That's why they call it hunting....
