Week 9...Time does fly!

Good Morning Everyone, I thought we could try something a little different. How about some quartering away shots?

First set your plate off center on the target.

Like this:

Next, if you have the room, stand at about a 45 degree angle to the target or if you can't do that then turn your target.

Like this:

Our first shot will be close, lets make it 10 yds, from a sitting position like the you are sitting in a blind.

Shot number 2 is from 17 yds kneeling on one or both knees

3rd shot will be from 20 yds standing.

You can take a few practice shots before putting up the plate. I hope you enjoy this weeks fun shoot.

Ok, I just did an 8, a 6, and a 4, for a 20. I didn't score well, but I was pleased with the shots. There isn't a whole lot of room between a 10 and a 4 at that angle.

Week 7 catch up = 22
I had some trouble with this one.  I definitely won't try any of these pretzels poses this year.

Week 8 catch up = 20
Looks like I need to get a little more focus on the cold shots

Week 9 total = 24
Shot 1= 10
Shot 2 = 8
Shot 3 = 6

Raging Water

Yep, this will be a fun shoot but a low score week.

I am not sure you have had a low score yet Matt!

My result
6, 4, complete miss for a total of 10
Just always go to pieces with that last shot!
The last one was a bit low and off to the left. Just didn't reach full draw when I released. Knew it was a poor shot but let it fly anyway   :(

I rotated the target back in line a bit more for the  photo.
Re-using some old targets too to save having to draw up new ones  :)

That will definitely be the score to beat.

Are you sure that 6 is not a line cutting 8?

That plate sure does get narrow at a 45 degree angle doesn't it?

Matt, it's touching the line, but it didn't break it.

Ill take a 6 a 4 and a zip this week, score = 10, but im ok with that because i think subconsciously my tendency is to shoot farther back on a quartering away shot and thats exactly what I did.   [/IMG]

First I need to clarify a few things...

Had a great practice day with Dogboy last Saturday but have realised I need more back tension and that my arrows are probably overspined.  Consequently I have changed things (again) and am back to the drawing board.

Tonight the practice shots for WK9 were going all over the place, the light was fading so thought, too bad, have a go anyway.  The Results are a complete fluke. Certainly not the result of consistency on my part   :dunno:

So I post this score reluctantly as it really overstates my skill level...

Score: 20

I did have another go to see if I could repeat and pulled this out on the 3rd repeat, then fell to pieces again. But pulled off a 20yard "10" before giving up for the night.

Fun? Yes! Consistent?  Only sometimes

Sure does! Who came up with this scenario anyway? Don't let him do it again...   :D

Shot 3 was not so good and that was the one I had the most confidence in.

Week 9 total...18 points

Okay so travel makes me late again.

Here is Week 8's photographic evidence...

I count that as an 8.  In my misguided effort to force myself to focus on a spot, I put a dime-sized spot and drew the lines later.  Yeah right.

Week 9 by Friday, I think...

low score week for me,  2 6's and a 4.  But it was a great group!

Good shot choices except for the kneeling thing again missed that one. Probably wood help if I wasn't kneeling on a air pad and swaying.
