been playing with a piece of brigalow that i cut last sept.
it ended up being 61 1/2" NTN and 65#@27"
i been shooting it and it has survived almost 100 shots. just got to make it a rawhide string and get some of these bamboo shafts i cut turned into tuned arrows.

full draw-

love brigalow!

i went for pin nocks and i've got to say, i like them.

i finished it with duck fat. we had roast duck a couple of weeks ago and we saved the fat. i just rubbed it in. "and the water still beads"

Nice job! Great looking bow and wood! I never heard of that wood before. How does it compare to osage?

You can hop but you can't hide.
If it was not for rabbits I would never get a buck.

shedrock- brigalow is a native australian tree. Acacia harpophylla. it's pretty dense stuff.
no idea how it compares to osage. i've never even seen a piece of osage.

Oh no, now you're going to get hooked on the primitive side of traditional!

Not a bad thing at all. Can't wait to see your first game animal you take.

That's awesome!! Great job! My first one got a small crack in the limb after 500 shots or so I sealed it with super glue but still have to wrap the crack in sinew.

Did some looking and found that this wood is more dense then osage.  So it should make an excellent selfbow.

Nice Job!!

wingnut- do some research on red and grey ironbark selfbows. it's more dense than brigalow.
we have some great selfbow timbers here in australia that's for sure.

Very nice Clint. Great wood grain. Those tips scare me. Looks like the string would just slip off.

LONGSTYKES

Great looking bow, as well as the wood. I agree with KentuckyTJ on the tips, they look awful shallow.
