I am shooting a Martin Hunter 45# @ 28 my draw is 28. My arrows are beman ICS  500 spine 29".  I have got the arrows flying like darts with 225 grains up front.  I am getting ready to order some brass inserts and make up a dozen of them.  My question is should I buy 100 grain inserts with 125 grain broadheads or 50 grain inserts with 175 grain heads. Or does it make any difference. Was wondering if I would have more broadheads options with one over the other.

Wont make a difference regarding arrow flight,  but a 175 gr broadhead will be beefier than a 125.  I've shot some nice 125s but I prefer a 175. Lots of great 175 options in the trad world.

I'm 50/50 on this one.

175 grain broadhead would be beefier and a bit more durable. On the other hand a 100 grain brass insert is longer and might add some strength to the front of the arrow.

I would try some 225 broadheads first, before I made any decision. You really find out how well tuned your arrows are when you put the broadhead on for the first time.

Also, if  you go with the 100gr. insert and it  is longer than the the insert you are shooting with, with your field tips, it will make a difference. I know I have some 100gr insert and them suckers are long.

So what I am trying to say is, by changing your insert, and not testing your arrow flight with a broadhead, the combination of the two could throw you out of wack.

I agree with using the lighter insert and heavier head. The heavy heads usually have more cutting edge & are stronger. Just one opinion.

I haven't stepped on a 125 yet, but the 175 grain $#*%! I stepped on two weeks ago held up MUCH better than my foot!
