Acorns looking better than I expected

I was out scouting two days ago. Man was it hot!  Despite the drought I found acorns doing better than what I had expected. Found them growing on white oaks near water and swampy areas. I would not be suprised if they all hit the ground before season starts but I took comfort knowing that they will help the deer through this stressful time. How are they looking in your neck of the woods?

Ours around here are almost non existant.  There are a few of the larger trees with more extensive root systems that have a few small, mostly hull acorns.  There just isn't much though.  Even all the underbrush is curled up and dormant looksing, like mid-October but without the bright colors.  It could be a tough winter, esp if we get some good solid cold and snow (unlikely though).
Silence is golden.

No food = lots of movement

the past 2 years around here there have been so many acorns that you couldn't walk through the woods without them crunching so loud everything would hear you from a mile off.
