Cade saw a frog just as my end of the canoe left the shore...

This is a head that Don Wilson gave to try out shooting birds...it works great for frogs! Catches weeds and doesn't let the arrow disappear. One downfall is that it's not good for threading thru cover on pond edges...

Man you have no idea how excited I get when you post these hunts with Cade. Love the pics, the story and seeing how happy your boy is in all the pics. I know you're a proud and lucky Dad, and Cade is a VERY lucky boy to have such a great guy for a Dad. Thanks as always for sharing. Hope to get a chance sometime to meet and hunt with you and Cade.

Congratulations to you and Cade, but it looks like me and him have the same problem on shooting though the best part of the frogs, the LEGS

Oh Possum Heads and me been a couple of time here recently, but he told me I was going to have to shoot better or we want have too many frog legs to eat!

I also made a frog point to help with the preventing lost arrows from going to deep and help in securing more frogs from near misses. I'll post up a picture here in a minute.

Thanks for sharing. Those pics bring back some of my fondest memories growing up. Had an uncle that would take my cousin and I on 2-3 day canoe float trips down a local river. We would live off of frog legs, trotline-caught catfish and open fire roasted corn-on-the-cob "borrowed" from the river bottoms. My uncle said the farmer would be okay with it as long as we weren't taking more than the 'coons and in the sixties that was probably the case. We thought we were kings! I confess that we killed our frogs with .22 short hollow points. We often had to shoot on the move if the water was too deep for my uncle to stop the boat. We were deadly with that iron-sighted Winchester 61 pump and rarely missed, although some would make the current if the spine wasn't severed. The bluing and finish were non-existent and it looked like "Fido's a**", but she was tack driver. I saw one NIB go for $1200 at an auction not long ago. By the time I was grown the frogs were gone and I never figutred out why. We certainly didn't hurt the population as ours were always killed during the day. Don't know if pesticides or predators got them, but I floated a section last year and was sad to see they've not made a comeback. Good times gone, but not forgotten. Your son will look back fondly when he's an old graybeard too!
