There are various longbow takedown systems, from the jack knife, to metal and fiberglass sleeves, to bolts, the various three piece takedowns,to even a metal latch. And I'm sure I'm missing several.

Does anyone have a preference from experience? I've made a couple of longbows and want to make a TWO piece takedown.

Thanks for your time and knowledge...Brett

I like the plain ol' metal sleeve.  Simple and dependable as it gets.

I'm not a bowyer, but I really like the carbon fiber sleeve system like Big Jim or Black Widow use.

All I have ever owned is the 3 piece take down version, so that is the only one I can say with certainty is my favorite.

I have a Kohannah with the bow-bolt, seems to work well!

I have many and the three I like are the carbon Jack Harrison two piece style (I think Big Jim does this too), Jack Harrison's stainless two piece takedown and Howard Hill Archery's two piece takedown system.

I just picked up some Craig Ekin takedowns and I am pleasantly surprised and pleased with them. I like them a lot

If weight bothers you go with the carbon two piece. It makes the bow feel even lighter.

Jack used to sell CDs on how he does it. I have the CD and he makes it look so easy, anybody but me could do it. I am a wood butcher!

If weight doesn't bother you than the metal takedown system is great. I like light one piece longbows but also like the weight of the metal takedown system on a takedown longbow.

You can't beat a two piece for convenience.

I currently soot a bow with the connexion hinge & it works quite well & servs it's intended purpose though it does move freely when unstrung & is visible & can be felt in the grip.
Having said that I just finihed boxing up a Demo Black Widow PL T/D with the composite sleeve & found that I prefer it. This system is solid, fits tight & unless you already know it's a T/D you can't tell it from a one piece & it doesnt affect the grip.

I have the connexion hinge(Liberty Edge),  shoot everyday with it, no problems at all.

I've only used the bow bolt....on two different Toelke Whips. Never had an issue. Love it. Super simple and effective. I like that when the bow is locked in, the threads are locked....it aint going nowhere.

I did notice that Dan only makes the bow bolts with micarta now, instead of wood. Figure if the bow is breaking, it's not gona be anywhere around the riser.

I think if you go to his website you can either send him an email and ask him or call his phone number. He usually goes to Texas in the winter and Alaska in the summer.

Good luck
