"I love you Daddy".......My son Cade while stump shooting  3/19/06

Sorry for the delay, got home this afternoon and I was wiped out.
Sunday afternoon I met Ryan Gill at the property and we filled a couple of feeders, did a little shooting, and hung out in camp waiting for Billy.
Billy Berger had a booth at the Big Buck Show in Lakeland and had been a little delayed, no worries, the hogs move late typically in summer anyway.
Billy arrived and we quickly geared up and headed for our stands. One thing I noticed on the way in was the differences in our footwear. I had knee high rubber boots, Ryan was wearing leather mocs, and Billy was barefoot! Actually, he would have worn sneakers or boots but forgot an extra pair and didn't want to be wearing wet sneakers for three days(I can't blame him).
Ryan headed for the pecan stand and I walked Billy to the double stand and then headed for the grove stand.
About an hour into the sit, I heard a hog squealing...

While we were getting ready to head in, Ryan handed me a beautiful stone knife he had made. Not only does it look great but it is a working knife and I was hoping to be able to try it out on a hog or two.

Some pics around camp. Ryan and Billy comparing notes on primitive gear.

I had hung a new stand in the pecan trees which were already dropping, Ryan went there and Billy sat the Double stand.
There had been a reddish brown boar coming there that had given several hunters(including me) the slip.
I was hoping Billy could introduce him to a stone point.
Here is a short clip of my encounter with the boar.

As usual in the summer here, rain was threatening.
After settling into my stand, I saw some rats scurrying around my feeder. Great! They have joined the squirrels, raccoons, hogs, and ants in the war against me and my feeders(more on the rat later).

I texted Billy and he had already had a lot of action. The spotted red boar at 8 yards but couldn't get a shot before the wind swirled and it spooked. A second group of hogs came in...

Billy took a shot at a small white hog but it moved as he released, the arrow hit it in the lower leg and the hog ran off with the arrow.
He looked for blood but nothing and looked again in the am, most likely a non-viatl hit.

The next morning found us back on stand. No hogs came in to my spot but some rats were tempting me so here's what happened....(click on the pic)
