my new 63#@25.5" bamabow expedition shoots 5575 with 200g up front well, but i want to build a heavier arrow.

i have to cut the shaft to 25.5", as drawing "to the barb", as saxton pope put it, is my anchor point.

so...can anyone tell me if a 7595 cut to 25.5" is likely to fly well with a 300g  (200+100 steel insert) head?

that's going to be very stiff, I would try to get a hold of one and try it before buying a dozen.

Im surprised the 55/75's shot well for you cut that short.
I shot 55/75 with 275 grains cut to 28 inches from a 64 longbow. I draw 27 inches. My guess is the 75/95 will be stiff.

I would load up what you have with tip weight and shoot. Carbons take the weight very well.

Yep I'd do the 300 on the one's you have first.  They look real stiff at the length for your bow.

Yeah, I, too, doubt the 7595s will work. You'd likely need 400 grains up front with the cut that short. I'd bet you could add another 100 grains up front on those 5575s.

As a side note, cutting your arrows to where you can feel the barb on the broadhead is really not a good idea. All it takes is a fraction of an overdraw and you'll find yourself dry firing your bow. You can actually pull the nock off the string. I know this from experience.

I used to like to feel the ferrule of the broadhead just touch the index finger of my bow hand. A couple of times, while hunting rabbits, I pulled a little too far and the blade actually hit the riser, pulling the arrow off the string. It all happened so fast, I didn't realize it until it was too late, and I dry fired my bow. Fortunately it was okay, but it could have been bad.

add some aquarium tubing. cheaper and you control the weight

i tried a 315g field point with the 5575, and it flew poorly.

i wonder if the fact that i draw with my teeth, and release without any "rolloff", could cause me to need a stiffer arrow?

I think that would definately allow you to shoot a stiffer arrow sledge.  For what ever reason, I have a friend who shoots 300 spine arrows with 325 up front 29" long with a 64@28 longbow and they fly perfectly. Arrow flight is very much dependent on release and yours may be the variable that allows them to work for you. Good luck!

i guess with my unique situation i just need to work it out.

i repeated my 5575 test to make sure, and results were the same:

200 flew perfectly, 250 wagged its tail,  315 flopped like  a fish.

The arrow that is flying for you now is at 101 Dynamic spine. The 75/95 with 300gr. up front is 106.

The spine would be similar. I can send you 75/95 if you need a test arrow.

I shoot a 29" 7595 with a total weight of 325 up front out of my 67# Shawnee that i draw 28 3/4 so i think an arrow cut THAT short will be seriously stiff.
