Time to change that next year.
Just as bad,  I live 5 miles from the east gate,  have a hunting spot 1 mile from the west gate and in my 35 years of living here, I've never put in for the hunts there either!

I grew up in Oklahoma had an aunt and uncle who lived there always wanted to hunt there but was unable to convince my Dad at the time to let me put in for the draw, hopefully I can arrange it in the future, good luck all.

I know there are some big boys over there but are there just an abundance of deer?
My standards are low, starting with does...I wanna shoot the first one! LOL  AS far as bucks, I'm not particular, just would like to kill something the represnts the average deer, doesn't have to be a big one!

wscruggs

There are a lot of deer. They will usually give you a quality pass if you shoot a doe or a hog. Which means you will get to come back next year without getting drawn. If you kill a buck over 105 they give you another buck tag. When I was there I would say I was seeing 15-20 deer a day.

check out the photos from last season and also the all-time greats that they have caught on trail cams:

If you shoot a doe, are you done or can you continue hunting until the weekend is up?

You get to hunt till it is over.If you kill a buck over 105 inches most years they will give you another buck tag.

The extra tag is at any additional cost?

I saw the deer posted but IMO that not average, those are really nice bucks! My goal is to whack a doe and see one of those nice ones!

Soonerlongbow

I don't know if they give another tag but having lived there and seen the bucks I have seen, 105 is small for many of them. As a kid while riding the bus I routinely watched a line of 8 bucks bigger than 125" every day as they walked from an off base field back on post. Biggest was well over 150.

I lived about 1/4 mile from the Turnpike and graduated from Savana, so very familar with the area.

Do any good?

I was lucky enough to get drawn out Nov 9-11 for Boggy this year. Pretty excited as I've only been 2 other times and they were at the first of Oct. Can't wait to see what its like at the first of the rut there.

My two hunting buddies and I got drawn in to Boggy the week of nov 9-11.  We are really pumped cause we have always heard it is such a great area.  Any tips for us?  Looks like we will be there with you SoonerBowhunter.

Congratulations to everyone who was drawn or has ever been drawn. I am one of the lucky ones to get drawn to hunt the Hominy area.  Been emailing anyone & everyone who was has ever been for suggestions on where to hunt there.
I've taken two bucks. two doe & one turkey with my bows in almost 40 years of bowhunting.  I need all the luck I can get.
Do you get to scout at all after the required meeting? What method of hunting do you do? Can you drive to your hunting location or jusr carpool? Sorry for all the questions but this is a great opportunity to the see a Pope & Young buck.  Every deer is a trophy IMO.
