Mitch H, just out of curiosity, what color came in 2nd behind white?
While I do not recall the order of every color tested, i do remember that chartreuse came in second.

BTW, even when slowing down the HD footage, I had to get down to 5% of realtime speed before it became less obvious which color was the most easily trackable to the human eye.

I did this testing nearly 10 years ago when I was still shooting wheel bows and was videoing all of my hunts. I wanted the best color to see arrow flight on tape without using a lighted nock.

All arrows used in the test were exactly the same except for the color of the nock, wrap, and 5" feathers.

Blue is the color I see best. However, deer and other animals can see blue a bit as well.

I always went with white or chartreuse before but last year tried fluorescent orange and that seems much brighter to my eyes. Will stay with that color from now on.

I like AMG chartreuse and flo orange best. White is great unless snow is on the ground so I don't use it much being a northern boy, but then it doesn't seem to snow here much anymore.   :dunno:    :dunno:

I don't believe winter has given up yet. You might be in for a real "treat".

I remember reading in a Trad bowhunter mag. that blue is one of the only colors not naturally found on the ground (or something like that) therefore, it's supposed to be the best for finding lost arrows. YMMV I guess. I like it. But I also like orange just cause it's my favorite color...

Chartreuse and white show up best for my tired ol eyes.

These are very easy to see.  I built 3 like it for squirrel hunting to cut down on arrow-searching time and increase hunting time.  I can easily track them through flight and they stick out like a pack of Highlighters when they come to a stop.

My take on the seeing the arrow best was based on finding it not seeing it in flight.  Seeing it in flight is nice, but it goes where it goes.  After that I want to find it.  I would for sure say chartreuse for in flight with a florescent green or a white nock.  Orange works great when you need to find it on the ground, but I do not think it is any better than some other colors in flight. Been eyeing some of the florescent blue feathers.  May have to give them a try for stummping and targets this year.

natural barred turkey feathers stand out just fine and because they haven't been dyed they retain their natural oil and stay weather resistant
