I am familiar with Ron from the days of Longbow Magazine. I have never seen or heard of LaClair Special, Huntmaster II. It is a double shelf longbow. I was wondering if anyone knows what limb laminations were used in the bow?

Thanks

Don't know, it would be nice to see a picture of one. I do like the new Shrew Hill Longbow, I have one and another coming.

I am thinking of buying this one. I never saw a double shelf Laclair bow. This has to be an older bow.

Ron if your out there maybe you can chime in.

Thanks

I have a few double shelve Bear bows (55-56), probably about the same vintage would be my guess.

Ron may be able to give you some background on the bow if it has a serial no.

The LaClair Special goes back a ways, even before we developed the Shrew line. The bow was made for me by Randy Denel of Saxon Archery. It was an all maple limb bow that was stained with an aniline dye that gave it a yellow gold, almost like osage. I use to call it "mock osage" or say it was a poor mans Osage..    :D

I wanted the double shelf because at the time I was practicing shooting both left and right. I used a center back quiver and wore a glove and arm guard on both arms. I thought it would be a big advantage in some hunting situations.     :archer:

I need a picture of you with the glove/armgaurd on both sides!

I'll see if I can find a picture for you Roger. I had to give up the practice of shooting both ways because I was killing too many deer....

Thanks for the info Ron. Here are some pictures of the bow. It is for sale up in your neck of the woods.

That's a beautiful bow, but scary thin at the shelf!
