We just got a Jo-Jann fletching jig and are working on fletching arrows. This one does six at a time but we are just working with one right now. The problem we are having is this. We have the right helical clamp, right helical feathers, and when you set it up, it says to have the nock receiver bar to the right and the v-bar to the left.
Well, we tried that and can not get the clamp on the shaft without gapping in it.  We tried putting an arrow that was already made on the spot next and the clamp on it to get the settings exactly how it would be to do that one arrow and when we do it on the shaft, there is still gapping.
Does anyone know how to set up the jig so we can follow along? A video would be helpful or even step by step instructions. We cant find any info anywhere! Thank you!

If you leave the wing nuts loose on the jig and place arrow with a fletched clamp on the arrow then move jig right to left (or vice a versa) until you can visually see the the feather laying all flat  on the arrow.  If you kept moving it then part of the feather  would probably lift off the arrow.  So just play with until you see the feather laying all flat on the arrow then that is your correct spot.  Then tighten the wing nuts.

yep just loosen the nuts and than look down on the side of the fletcher and see if you can see daylight under the feather if not than your good to go, if not than just slide it back and forth until you find the right spot than lock the nuts down and your ready to fletch

So, it doesn't matter if it is to the left side or right side as long as it is flat on the shaft?

The instructions on the jojan are wrong, and apparently have been wrong for around 30 years.  How's that for quality control?  Do what the others guys said, the jig will work fine.

I've had my 6 arrow Jo-Jan for around 30 years. I never had any problems setting it up..... because I never followed the factory instructions.    :D

I've had my set up for twenty five years with zeo problems also. Do what the rest of the guys said and eye ball it until the feather sits flat. It is a great fletch jig.
