I am fairly new to traditional archery and new to this setup. I am shooting a TT Galaxy 45#s @ 28", with my draw being a little over 30". My arrow of choice is the GT 5575 traditionals full length. What would be a good tip weight to start off with?

I would use Stu Miller's Dynamic Spine Calculator and insert all the data for your bow and your GT 5575's.  This would narrow down the tip weight you should use.

Another way would bare shaft with various points.

Start with 175 point and standard insert

If you plan on hunting which i assume to be the case..... i would pick your broadhead first.  it is the most important part of the whole setup and needs to be addressed right off the bat.  then you can tune your shafts to your bow/broadhead.  i find this to be a lot easier but that's my opinion. good luck.

A 5575 is far too stiff for a 45 lb bow. I suggest the 1535. You will have more flexibility in shaft length and point weight.

I would at least start out at 175-200 grain points you might need a little more weight up front, you could shoot them and try it out and if you need more weight you could try some brass inserts. I would not cut them until you try that first, been there done that. cheaper to buy inserts than new shafts

You say the 5575 are too stiff, but if I use the Dynamic Spine calculator it says I am close. When I put in my specs, a full length arrow (I dont have much overhang to trim), with 150-175 grain tips; I am pretty close. Does the calculator not work properly? If I put in 1535, as you suggest, It shows I need 50 grain tips. With 3555s, I would need 100 grain tips. I wasnt sure about the calculator, that is why I was asking.
I hope that didnt come accross rude, that isnt my intention. I just dont know, and I am looking for input, and experience from people with similar setups..
