I'm looking to experiment with 4 fletches on my hunting/practice arrows.

I have 5" fletches, and a JoJan jig with a RW helical clamp.

It looks like my nock guide will do 90deg

Will this this set up work?

Or is there something else I should try?

I tried searching and all I could find was info on 4" fletching not 4 fletchings!

Should work just fine. I think most use 4" feathers in 4 fletch. Hap

Jo-Jan has two different nock receivers - one is 3 fletch on one end and 4 fletch at 60-120 on the other; the other nock receiver is 3 fletch on one end and 4 fletch at 90 on the other.  

Either will work just fine - the only real difference is how you like the look of one or the other.  

Don't try helical with four fletch - use straight clamps.  4 fletch helical is harder to get right and noisier even if you do.  

If you're shooting thick wood arrows, helical may help a little on 3 fletch; if you're shooting aluminum or carbon you haven't got enough arrow diameter to get enough helical to matter.

Your best bet for 4 fletch is 4" feathers - unless you use the feather as part of your anchor, use parabolic - they're quieter than shield cut.

I have a Jo Jan,usally the nock recievers that come with them will fletch 3 x 120 and 4 at 75/105.The Jo Jan nock reciever that will fletch 4 at 90 is their TM nock reciever.It fletches 4 at 90 and the 3 x 120 with the cock feather up or down.I had to buy a couple of them to fletch 4 at 90 for my Jo Jan fletchers.

I am not familiar with that jig...I use a BPE....BUT..

Straight or off set...don't shoot straight fletch with broadheads....

Will they work?.....your set up is what I use 90% of the time.  5 inch 4 fletch...Not only does that set up work, but works well.  No matter what bhead, bow, position I shoot from, or even if they are wet.

So the question is, will this work?....and the answer is Yes.....and work very well in a variety of scenarios.

I would use 4 X 4" parabolic cut fletching with the helical.

I like the  75x105 with the 105 on the shelf.  4" w/ helical.

Angel De, I have a Jo-Jan right wing clamp and it's a great  fletching gig.

I use the nock receiver and it's set for 3 fletch and I do 4 fletch right wing 60x120.

Put arrow in gig and glue cock feather, rotate  to left (counter clockwise) and glue hen feather.

Take arrow out of gig and rotate arrow 360 degrees and put arrow back into clamp. Do not touch the nock receiver.

Glue hen feather then rotate back (clockwise) and glue cock feather. Depending on glue waite 10 to 15 min. between fletching.

OK I looked at my jig again and it does look like the 4 fletch side is offset, so it's a 60X120.

So that will give the same results as flipping the arrow on the 3 fletch side?

I'll picks up some 4" feathers to try out both.

I guess I better pick up some more shafts too!

Yes, 5" 4 fletch  with off set or helical will work.  All-Day-Long.

I also shoot 5" 4 fletch helical.  I shoot both 90x90 and 75x105 and they shoot equally well but the 90x90 look better.

Angel, the JoJan does 75x105 by flipping the nock receiver.  If you want 60x120, you use the 3-fletch end of the receiver and turn the arrow as Whittler describes.

Angel: I've been using Jo Jans for about 40 years. They do not have a 60 X 120 indexer. The one you have is either 90X90 or 75 X 105. If you want 120 X 60 do it the way Whittler describes.

OK then it must be 75/105.

any advantage with 75/105 vs 60/120?

I imagine the 90/90 would look best, but it's just one more thing to buy!

Try one arrow set with the nock receiver for 4 fletch and one arrow like I suggested 60x120 and see which one flies the best with your set up.

Remember it don't matter how good your arrow looks if it don't shoot true.

OK I just tried both the 60/120 and the 75/105.

I picked up some Carbon Easton 60/75 Storms 340 spine. They only came with vanes so I stripped a couple to try out.

I must have done something wrong on the 60/120 because the nock was off, but it's a good thing they were carbons! so I just twisted it.

They both seem to shoot well and if all things are equal I'll just use the 75/105 for simplicitys sake.

And I did use my RW helical clamp.

I'm also experimenting with a 200 and a 250gr tip.

So while they seem to shoot equally as well, the feathers seem to be wearing excessively with the 75/105 which is the stock 4 fletch pattern on my jig.  

So I'll be flipping the nock around on the 3 fletch side.

I forgot to mention I am using 4" parabolics.

and my bow likes the 250gr FP's

Should work OK I have not fletched any four x four, but have shoot several that I traded for and they did OK.  Helical should just add a bit of spin to it arrow.

The local shop found a package of 250gr field tips hidden away!

So I'm all set!

I have a dozen carbons now! maybe I have enough to get through the next 3-D shoot!
