Never had a problem bear hunting with the Thermacell....wouldn't go without one.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

I would almost rather be in my stand and forget any other piece of equipment other than my thermacell. Maine bears don't seem to mind them at all.

No matter what you wear, or do.....they'll smell you and know you're there!

Without a thermacell, how are you gonna sit still? If you can't sit still, how are you gonna kill a bear?

Thermacell is one of the best things I ever bought.  buy it!
Contact your local police department and have them track you with a K-9 while wearing "scent control" clothing.

I burned 2 Thermacells at a time in Quebec last spring. The result of that hunt is the bear in my avatar. I saw numerous other bears at the site that week too.

Honestly, most bears are gonna know you are there because many of them approach the bait or feeding areas down wind to avoid bigger bears. A number of them really don't care if you are in the vicinity as long as you don't move quickly.

Some bears are spooky, but many of them will know exactly where you are and come to the bait anyway. They see you as subordinate if you are up a tree. Just some observations on my part. We went 12 out of 15 (coulda been 15 for 15) on bears last spring and I think every guy there used a thermacell.

Your mileage may vary, good luck!

Can't imagine being on bear stand without one, spring/summer hunts anyway.  Bear never seemed to mind and I'm sure they could smell it.

I had mine on when I shot the bear in my avatar...during that hunt the propane went out and before I could change it the no-see em's and skeeters wore me out. Can't imagine not having one   :scared:
