Today was the first time i've ever bowfished. Turned out pretty good. I was fishing an irrigation lake that has been pumped pretty dry due to the lack of water this year here in colorado, which is great because you could really see the carp feeding and spawning in the shallows and i mean hundreds of them! However, a bad rain the night before left the water very muddy and hard to see more than an inch deep. Oh well, I still shot four, two big ones got off somehow    . I missed alot because i was either aiming too high or too low due to the muddy water and not being able to see. Also i was shooting my glass backed hickory flatbow, which isn't the most accurate. However, when i did connect it was a blast! Just wish i knew how to cook these things so they don't all go to waste. heres some pics for you guys.

Shallow water, trapped fish, can't get any better. Maybe filet them then grind them into fish patties?

Congrats! Now you're hooked.

I don't eat carp but some people around here do. Find someone who likes them and give them the fish.

Personally, I don't sweat it too much if I don't eat them or if I can't find anybody who wants them. They're a non-native, invasive species that doesn't belong here. Heck, the 'coons, 'yotes, 'possums, turtles, and such have to eat too so let them have them.

Ya I'm not too upset. They are out of control, and once they're that big no predators can touch them. If only they were more delicious and easy to cook with those big fillets of meat on them.
