I am now making my own scent spray and have used it with success; I pay more attention to the wind than anything but have quit buying commerical scent sprays;

You?
May the sun always shine bright on your path and the wind be in your face

I don't buy commercial scent. I put all of my hunting clothes (boots) in a plastic garbage bag half filled with forest leaves.

I smell like the forest floor.

I used to go nuts, with tremendous detail to descenting my stuff and myself, setting up drippers, using all kinds of attractant scent.
I dont use any now except a good soap.
I do pretty darn good I think without it all.
But I'd love to try a home made scent just to check it out, sounds fun.

Nope, I just wash my clothes with Purex free and clear, and bathe with Dove unscented soap. Under my arms I use Arm and Hammer scent free, or Right Gaurd unscented deoderant.

I like the Fitzgerald deer dander. It's the only thing I use.  But I have seen it work first hand for the past 10 years.  I have had coyotes nose down following it like on a string. So that's good and bad.
But If I don't have it I don't freak, and rus out to get some. I have killed a more than a  few deer right after work still in work clothes smelling of escalator grease and solvents with not even a tail flinch, BUT I played the wind.

I do and ain't afraid to admit it LOL but Primos Silver xp is AMAZING. I spray down before goin in and the bottom of my tree and once or twice i've had deer eating the leaves off the ground at the bottom of my tree. I love this stuff. I don't have a huge plot of land and can only go in a couple of different directions so a good cover scent can help on those trails you have to walk over to get to your stand.

Stopped using commercial scents of any kind when there were only a couple out there back in 1982 or 1983.  I witnessed deer crossing my trail and while most ignored my trail a couple got really bent out of shape.

Now I simply shower before going out in the morning (if hunting local) and keep clean. I've been known to take a wet wash cloth and a change of shirt so I can wipe down if I get sweaty walking in. I put the wet stuff in zip-lock bags after.

I agree with 5deer,watch the wind,I believe deer can still tell thats a hunter with some scent on.

Not as often as I used to, because I just don't think they have helped much.

i'm guilty, i use a sent killer type spray, i go straight from work to the woods every chance i get, and i know it works to some degree.
and i dont mind spending a few bucks for a bottle or two a year.

I bought some, used it a bit, and noted it didn't seem to keep deer from getting my scent. It does, however, work great on carpet as a deodorizer! Worked great for when my kid had the stomach flu.  :(
