I have to agree with Meathead.  Here's a little something to help you with the next few days.  Good luck, have fun, be safe!

Best of luck guys. My sincere apologies for having to pull the plug in the last minute. Don't forget if any of you have any friends that can go my slot is up for grabs with the discount. Man I wish I was going! Keep us all posted for both weeks please. We all want to be there if only via internet. Have fun but be careful!  BW aka UB

Just passed through US Customs, had a little paperwork to take care of.

Over fifteen hours non stop on the road with a few more to go. Super time with a great bunch of Trad Gangers. More to follow, for now need to finish the final leg of the journey home.

Finally unpacked, have some pics downloaded and attended the Graduation party that was the reason for my leaving for home a day earlier than the rest of the Bear Questers in camp.

Arrived in La Tuque early Saturday morning. After introductions and unpacking it was time to get out and do a little baiting. The stands had been baited by Tom Phillips and Zack Crossland the previous weekend so we were anxious to get out and see how many were active.  :)

Since I'd hunted the water baits the previous year I headed out with Larry Surtees, Bill Terry and Eric Port to bait the Cove, Moose Tower, Blowdown, Sundown and the Hillbilly. We found all had been hit hard with the exception of the Cove which was untouched.

Once everyone was back at camp we were all gathered together by Tom and given a rundown of the camps do's and don't's and what to expect if we were a first time bear hunter or new to Bear Quest. Next each hunter drew a stand from a hat and as luck would have it, I drew the inactive Cove on the water.

After dropping off Eric at the Moose Tower I swung back to camp for awhile. I'll be the first to admit I was dead tired, going on 40 hours with no sleep. About an hour later I gathered up my gear and headed for the Cove. A 5 minute boat ride and I was quietly slipping over the moss on my approach to the stand. After making sure, from a distance, that there were no visitors currently at the bait site I made my way to the stand and up to my 7 foot high perch.

Here I sit in the bush of Canada, bow in hand, with the hiss of a Thermacell and the buzz of skeeters and blackflies bouncing off my headnet. Something else is also bounching. My chin off my chest as 40 plus hours of no sleep is catching up with me and I struggle to keep my head up and stay awake during my first night on stand. I finally give in and cinch up my safety belt to keep me in position if I do nod out. As legal shooting hours end I climb down and point the boat for the Moose Tower to pick up Eric. I had seen NOTHING on my first night on stand    :(
