My grand pa gave me his old bear kodiak years ago before I was really into trad archery. Never really seriously shot the bow or tried tuning it. Well after going to longbows and not even touching the bear recurve in over a year I decided I really want a ILF recurve as my next one, trying to figure out length I remembered the kodiak is 60" and that about what I want. Busted it out and dusted her off and tied in a nock point.  grabed my arrows went to the base ment. first few shots were low so I lowered the nock point a tad bit then tried again. I shot one of the tightes groups I have ever shot, thinking wow must be a fluke I shot another tight group over and over and over  :)  this thing is a real shooter and I never new it. Makes me more excited about the new rig im buying soon.  Ill tell you one thing, this bow will no longer just be sitting unused, brings  smile to my face. Plus its like 39# at my dl so its a pleasure to shooter for long periods and just hits right where Im looking.   think ill be getting a lite set of limbs and a heavier set for sure, these light bows are fun

anyone else have a sleeper bow?

I've got a little Browning Cobra I ,50" 48#
I've had it for years and never really shot it.I let my Kids and friend's kids use it. I tried it out this year and tuned some arrows to it and it shoots great! I asked about it on the history/collecting forum and found out it was made the year I was born,1970,pretty cool. You're lucky though,I wish I could say mine came from my grandfather.

A lot of these older recurves Shoot Great. The only reason they need to keep changing things is so people will keep buying more.   :readit:    :p

You would never know my wife shoots 35 lbs with how fast her arrows look like they shoot.

I love my old Bear Grizzly. Great Bow!
Relax,

You'll live longer!

I've got a Bear TigerCat that's along those lines.  It was the bow that got me back into shooting.  33#@28" makes it a breeze to shoot when the shoulder is flaring up.

thats the good part, my shoulder is messed up and the doc has me on pills and I might need a cortizone shot and MRI.  most of the bows hurt after I shoot for awhile, this feels great  :)   probably stick to shooting this a majority of the time until the shoulder issues settle down
