Me too man! I checked the weather network for Opasatika..FROST WARNING TONITE UP THERE!!   :bigsmyl:            :campfire:
have to get my bear tag, a few more things, gonna be wet some days, so look into rain gear.  ;)
It looks like it will be fairly cool our first 3-4 days of hunting.
I'm hoping for moose and I really want a crack at a nice bear with the longbow as well.

I'll be packing this weekend too, got most of my stuff ready, the gnomes of the hunt are helping me out   ;)    :)
Harmony is ready, still have to mount and flight shoot my 160 gr STOS, they have to get here first!!, good thing they sharpen so easily.

tick tock, tick tock...SWAMP MULES..HERE WE COME!!

LONGHORN

Cary, how many bows are you taking along? I will hunt mostly with primal quest       but will bring my take down curve just in case       .Being 630 miles from home,I wouldn't want to be without a spare bow    :banghead: .

ahhhhh...now that it is tuned; you like that Mississippi Lake Longbow eh???? They are saaa- weeeeet shooters     ;)          :p

I'm taking Harmony, my 1st longbow from Jim, and either my Chekmate Thunderbird, or SweetPea, my 62" longbow from Jim.

I think 2 bows are enough, I know Jim will be bringing his walking stick, wading staff, brush busting bow that was a demo and is now his personal bow of choice; like mine it is osage and tuff as nuts!     :archer:

All of us are shooting woodies and single blade heads, they just go hand in hand with longbows don't they???

Gettin' closer     :)

THE FOREST WITCH

Good Morning Gentlemen

Here is a Blessing for the Beast

"Created by Your hand as You created man,
Life given for life.
That me and mine may eat with thanks for the gift,
That me and mine may give thanks for Your own sacrifice of blood and flesh,
Life given for life."

I know that you all say a little prayer for the animal's life taken in the hunt.

I thought that this was appropriate for the beginning of a new season...and many more to come.

Kelly,
that is one of the best hunting prayers i have ever read! if you don't mind i would like to write it down and use it myself? do you remember where it came from?

THE FOREST WITCH

Hi Adkmountainken,
please go ahead and use it for whatever you like.
I got it from a book that I am reading about the 17th century.  It is Gaelic and that is the English translation.  It is called "The Gralloch Prayer."
It is very ancient from what i have read.
I am very pleased that you liked it.

Very nice prayer...I KNOW we'll get the chance to use it!  :archer:
Real cold this am, and the weather outlook for our trip is looking good, cool and MOOSEY-type weather.
A little warm in the afternoons, but good fishing,  siesta-ing time. I'm almost ready, got most of the stuff packed, making a longbow tube this afternoon.  :)

THE FOREST WITCH

Hey Cary, Serge and Jim,
4 days....   :bigsmyl:   Now we are getting down to the nitty-gritty!!!  It looked like there was frost out here on the grass close to the tree line this morning.  I just stepped outside and I could see my breath!
Well Jim, you must be busy finishing up the bows that you were working on...  That's why we haven't heard from you.   :campfire:  Just checked the weather and it is a balmy 4C up North.... brrrr.
   I think a cold snap is going to sneak up on us.
So, make your final lists and check them twice!!
I am excited for your adventure to begin...
The anticipation must be eating at all of you, I know that I would have a hard time getting any sleep.  LOL   :goldtooth:
I hope you all have a great day and stop to enjoy nature around you, life is too short.
Cheers!
Kelly

my plans are to fill a 2G card up with pics and video!   :)     :)    I will be enjoying all of it, soaking it up like a sponge.

I hope this will be the start of a long tradition for my friends and I.
I think I have at least another 25-30 years of this in me   ;)

LONGHORN
