Can a Helical be used on an arrow as thin as  these?

Widow's Son

I use a five inch helical fletch on my MFX arrows. I tried a 5 1/2" but I couldn't get my Bitz. fletcher set up for it. The 5" work just fine. You may be able to fletch a 5 1/2" using a JoJan or other fletcher. Make sure you get those shafts clean with acetone first so your glue will stick. Learned this the hard way.

Alcohol isn`t sufficient?

Widow's Son

I havn't had any luck using it. The bow shop here uses acetone and that's what they recommend.

My MFX Classics are fletched helical with 4 and 5" fletch.

Those Beman MFXs are the best arrows I've ever used.  I tried carbons 15 or so years ago and was unimpressed. They seemed pretty fragile at that time. I'm sold on these Bemans.

I use fletch tape and have no problems on MFX Classics.

I have at least 5-6 different fletching jigs including Bitz and Jo-Jann.  I've fletched my own arrows for decades. However, for the past three years I've been ordering the arrows from Easton already fletched. They do a terrific job and I've never had a fletch come off.

However, when the fletching gets too worn or damaged I find it VERY difficult to get the old fletching off so I can refletch the arrows. (The shafts far outlast the feathers except for a few scrapes and dings here and there.)

When I remove the fletching I always seem to scrape and damage the finish where the fletching is--I hate that! I even get it a bit uneven and rough. I wrap these shafts and use fletch tape to reattach new feathers. I love the tape as well having learned about it on this forum in 2009.

I haven't yet done a 3rd generation fletching job on these arrows but I know the wrapped shafts will be simple to remove because I've removed one or two for other reasons.

Broken Arrows

I have been using crest wraps and Fletch tape on by MFX when I need to replace the fletching I use steam to heat the crest wraps and it peels right off.

Yes they can, I use 4-4in. with a slight helical and a Bitz jig. Hope this helps

Really like these MFx's 600s, fly like darts and the penetration is unbelievable. Shoot good out of all my bows. Use a 4 inch shield cut and a radical left helical, broadheads fly just like field pts.

TomBow

I have fletched many of these, all fletched with LocTite Super Glue gel (allows better placement control because of the gel) and have fletched 4", 5" and 3 feather and 4 feather configurations and ALL with maximum right helical.  No problem with the diameter they have fletched and flown well.  DO IT!  I must agree that using wraps is the best way to go because eventually you will have to re-fletch.
Best of Luck!

Use 5.5 inch shield with a jojan never had a problem.

Big Ed

I use wraps on all my arrow and have no issues. I have even used clear wraps. Them seem to clean up a lot better in case of re-fletching.

Fletch tape, 4X3" with definite helical.
