The person that started everything for me ,my life,my values and my Traditinal world of Archery ,my father passed away .At 85 he lived a great life and went the way a great person should go peacefully. The memories of all our times and hunts will always be remembered and passed on to his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Dad was with me when I shot my first deer ever with a recurve bow in 1973.He will be sadly missed.
Right now all our family has come home in honor of Dad.
Quote from Howard Hill.( Whenever he taught someone to shoot) "Son make up your mind right now if you want to target shoot or hunt as theres a world of differance between the two"

A good life like you say he had is not a given, you are fortunate to have had a good relationship with him and have a lot of good memories. I wish you and your family well in your time of loss.

As sad as it may feel right now, your dad had a good life. What is sadder is a person who passes and had not had a good life, made a contribution or, worse, died alone. In time good memories will replace the sadness. Keep close to your family and friends and talk a lot about the good stuff. It really helps. God  bless.

Sadly a bridge we all must cross.

Great memories are what helps in the troubling times.

Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

So sorry for your loss Steve

My Dad passed 14 days ago at 91, I was very close to him and miss him daily, but I feel the way Bill does, he was part of the greatest generation and when my 6 siblings and I told all of our stories it was apparent why they are the called that!!

Prayers are with you and yours. Remember what you said "he lived a great life" and apparently had a great family. What more can any of us ask in the end?  Treasure all those precious memories and hope that others remember us that way down the road.
God bless!

My deepest sympathies for your loss. My father passed away when he was 68 and I was 30. Be thankful for what you had.

Your father will live forever through the values he passed to you and you passed on to your children. They will pass them on to their children and the cycle will repeat.

My Dad died at 85 too. It is a loss few of us will ever totally deal with. But I will see him again in another two or three decades (assuming a full life for me too). My thoughts and prayers for you and yours at this time of loss.

Deepest sympathy to you and yours Steve. Find some solace in that you had a great relationship with your Dad. Doesn't happen for everyone.
