Killy, which was the mistake? The pencil or the eraser?

What the yell would I need an eraser for?   :dunno:

Killdeer   :p
Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Funniest part of my day is laughing at myself.  I do LOTs of stupid stuff.  Traditional bowhunting just fuels the fire.

This is going to be a great thread.

I'm just glad I haven't done anything stupid at work.

First time i ever shot a traditional bow, buddy handed me his longbow.  Then handed me an armguard, said, "u better put this on first".  I thought it went around ur wrist . . . . . . . . .

sore fingers

About 27 years ago when i was first getting started bowhunting me and my friend were on our first big game hunt for deer and elk. Everything we had and did was half a$$ed to say the least. I had accidently cut my sting almost all the way and my backup string was about 10 inches to long. Twist as i could i couldnt get it short enough, so i started tying knots in it. By the time i was done my string looked like it had several large tumors hanging off it! Im glad we didnt get any pictures of that..

I'm pretty sure I have, but just can not think of what it was.   :biglaugh:

Night Wing

The most dumbest thing I ever did bowhunting wise was taking a too far shot of 29 yards on a deer during a late afternoon hunt when I was 16 years old. The deer moved forward just as I released my arrow.

Instead of a broadside double lung kill shot, the shot turned into a "gut shot". I trailed the deer for 200 yards before it got dark and I lost the blood trail in the darkness.

I took up the trail the next morning at first light. I eventually found the deer another 200 yards away, but a pack of coyotes found it before me during the night.     :(

I was sure the deer was alive when the coyotes found the deer and ate it alive.       I felt sick to my stomach at the carnage I saw and realizing I was responsible for it.

That is when I vowed.....NEVER.....to take a shot over 20 yards again. And I haven't. This hard and humbling lesson was learned 46 years ago.

I did learn my lesson. Three weeks later, I arrowed my first deer with a broadside double lung pass through shot at.......14 yards and the deer traveled 42 yards. I know the shot distance and the trailing distance since I carried a tape measure with me.

Killy, why would I buy a pencil? They never let me use anything but Crayons.

misfire

Up in my treestand in my little piece of heaven. Holding onto the bow I squeezed the arrow nock between my thumb and finger and pulled back just a couple inches when the arrow slipped outta my fingers. It went forward a short distance, strait down and planted itself in the ground about ten feet from the tree...That wasn't it.

It was when I caught myself looking around to see if anyone had seen what had happened that made me feel kinda stupid...

Keefer

Used a drinking straw to suck up hot bow string wax I just made to transfer to some little cups...Tongue still remembers that everytime I think of making more string wax...  :scared:

Keefer, THAT may take the cake!  :notworthy:
Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm
not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

Yes.  On a fairly regular basis.

Nah, never did anything really stupid, but I did cut my bowstring with a broadhead once.
