I want to install a stabilizer adapter on this Martin X-200.  It's pretty beefy so I am thinking it would be ok, but, I have to say, "What do I know?".  So, would you guys drill it and if so, where?

Have you looked at the gadget adapter that 3 rivers sells? It is very stable and removable.

I agree with Rob, the Adapter is the way to go.

I have looked at it.  But, I don't know it would hold up to some of the really big gar I hope to skewer with it.  Have you guys used them on fishing bows?

I would trust it more than an insert IMO.

i have used the gadget adapter, and they are very strong and stable if you stretch the bands good and tight.
of course i havent shot anything over fifty pounds, so i'd say they are plenty strong for normal sized fish. but if i were gonna drillit i would go about 4 1/2 - 5" below shelf.

Y'all have me lookin' and re-thinkin'.

How much do you like the bow? How big are the gar? If your after really big gar I'm not sure the gadget adapter will hold up.ymmv

gadget adaptor and ams retreiver if your gonna bowfish

Bullie

The gar are big.  I donno if there are any alligator gar in the lake I will fish most, but it is definately not out of the question.  The Mississippi delta has some big rough fish.

The bow is in good shape and I might try to get $100 for it someday so I went with the adaptor.  If I do stick a big one I could see how having a metal rod screwed into the bow might not work out great.

The gadget adaptor and AMS reel is one of the best set ups for bowfishing period!
