I'm not the handiest of guys but I decided to try and make myself a backstop.  Big thanks to Kerry (COLongbow) and his wife for the design.  My brother helped me with the initial frame.  It's not perfect by any means but, as the theme for the project became, it'll work.  My biggest mistake was assuming my horse stall mat was the same size and Kerry's, it was not.  Mine was 4x6 which doesn't work to well with a 5x5 frame.  It was impossible to find a 5x7 horse stall mat local so I had to improvise a bit.  You can see the gap in the 3rd pic.  I cut it down and then added 2 2x6x5's to the bottom and attached the remaining 1x4 mat piece.  All in all I'm pretty happy with the end product.

Nice....and I see you took advantage of the sale on horse mats at TSC too.  Just built a new backstop over the weekend as well.

Just because you are passionate about something, doesn't mean you don't suck at it.

im sure the neighbors will apreciate your effort, do your arrows stick in the mat or bounce off ?

Very Nice!  I think I'll copy that this weekend, thank you very much!

Looks good.
Just remember the old adage - measure twice, cut once. And make no assumptions!
Arrows must just bounce off that or do they stick?

Hey Tom I just figured it was post twice cut once:). They will often just stick slightly into the rubber but occasionally they will bounce off.  Thanks for the feedback guys

I hang a big ole block target in front of mine so I don't miss all that much. But when I do my field points stick every time, and a pain to pull out without losing the insert.

Maybe mine stick only cause I shoot a Widow!    :biglaugh:
