i went to the doc today... since i have some scratches on my glasses i was going to get some new lenses, i needed a new prescription... left eye is perfect just glass for my lens but my astigmatism in my right eye has shifted a bit... she recommended i wear them all the time instead of just for work and reading. i told her about my better focus with them on. she said that its because my eye has to strain harder with out them causing a fatigue and shakiness in the eye. Good news is they had my lenses in stock so i will have a new scratch free pair in about 30 minutes

I wear glasses , what works for me is a slight open stance along with making sure the focus is more out of my right eye when setting up. Seems to put my head in the right position . If I don't apply these I will get arrows that hook a hard left like a magic trick LOL

A couple of my buddies have had the laser surgury and got great results,I may do it but I'm just a little leary about messing with my eyes.
I used to shoot alot of 3d comps and developed a habit of pushing my glasses up with my glove hand,then pushing the finger tips of the glove on my chest(to seat my fingers all the way in) then push my glasses up again,before every shot.
A few people thought I was making the sign of the cross before I shot,probably not a bad idea on some of the days!!!!

If I ever have to shoot anything from 2' in I'll definitely need my readers on.

One thing to think about with shooting with glasses. Your correction is set in the middle of the lens. When you shoot you are looking throught the lens in the upper left or right of the lens depending on whether you are shooting left or right handed. If you have problems you might consider having a lens ground for the correction upper corner of the lens. It is a old target shooting trick!!

I also have astigmatism and just this year I have tried contacts for the astigmatism. I got tired of my glasses fogging up at critical times especially early mornings.Here in Ky the high humidity is also a problem. I don't see as well with the contacts as I do with my glasses and trying to fill out a tag, I'd probably end up writing on my hand  

mongoose and everybody else who has an astigmatism and wears contacts:  how do you like em?  Moebow is probably right about squaring my face more to the target.  I use the end of my nose on my cock feather as an anchor and also the corner of my mouth.  Dont know if I can really turn any more, will have to experiment.  I dont have much problem with distance vision, mostly the up close stuff but the whole sight picture is not as clear as I would like.  Just wondering if contrary to what my optometrist sais is anybody having good luck with contacts made for astigmatism?  Dont mean to hijack the post , it seems like we are all in the same bucket. I had glasses made for shooting with the optical center up in the corner etc, etc. and still could not get used to them.  Good thread,  many thanks.

I wear my contacts when I'm hunting.  Makes a huge difference in low light for me.

I wear the contacts for astigmatism , They are called Toric lenses ,   they have 2 powers, one vertical and one horizontal ,  they are weighted to keep them turned the right way,   if my eyes get dry sometimes blinking will make the lens turn and lose focus,  but for the most part, they work really well for me,  I do have trouble seeing close up, but thats cause I am getting old, and really need to go to bifocals, but those in contacts really suck. I just use reading glasses when needed.

I went to contacts years ago, because I hated the fogging and rain on my glasses when in the outdoors. One of the keys to good shooting is seeing well.  The better you can see your target the better your mind can judge distance (imho).  It doesn't matter if it is glasses or contacts, if they improve your vision, always have them on your eyers.

My contacts are for astigmatism. As Atennishu said, they are weighted and will rotate to be in the right position. I love them!

It may take several trial sets to get everything just right but it is worth it.
