I do shoot wood arrows,  but mostly carbon....and for carbon its been GTs exclusively.  I was putting together some judos tonight and had to add weight to get my 250 up front.   To help keep track of the arrows that are weighted,  I changed out the nock to a different color than my identically fletched target and hunting arrows and it got me to thinking.....theres been talk here and there about the GT nocks failing.  I have not had any problems myself thank the lord,  but I was wondering....Who has had GT nocks fail and what color were they?  Some of my nocks Ive had for a little while and have no clue if they may be part of the bad run of nocks.  Do certain colors make up the majority of the failures?

I've had a few break, they were the clear green color. I never had the problems that others seemed to have.  GT had a warranty replacement program going on and replaced all my nocks back in the winter free of charge, great customer service.  Contact them and see if they will replace yours.

Orange and lime green for me.

I had some orange ones break.

Clear green and white for me.  Warranty and service may be great, but that does not replace a bow or a hunt opp of a lifetime.  Switch them out to some other brand nocks.  I had THREE dry fires.  Just glad I was shooting the highest of quality bows.

I don't think we can go on color. The ones that broke on me were all white ones. Green and orange are still going strong.
The white ones were the latest ones that came with the arrows. I've replaced all of the last white ones.

I had several lime green.

Never had one break on the string. Usually when the arrow hits something it shears off flush with the shaft. Minor annoyance.

never experienced nock problems with GT's and have used them a lot. Sometimes they break or pop out when you hit a hard target but most nocks will.

how are the dry fires occuring? maybe people are setting the nock too loosely on the string?

Well thanks for the input people....I happen to have white, green and orange GT nocks that Im thinking I should get rid of just to be safe.  Easton Super 3D nocks are my favorite anyway   :rolleyes:   !

I had a number of white ones shear off like reddogge.  I switched them all to another brand.  Problem solved.

I had white ones snap like twigs, then Gold Tip sent new white ones which I took stumping for a good test and no problems since they were replaced.

I use Easton S nocks in mine.  Never had a problem

Well I have read a few of these post on GT nocks and I thought wow I've never had a problem....

I can't say that anymore... When I release my bow made a weird sound, my arrow hit low. I went to the target to see what happened and I found the GT nock was broke off inside the arrow shaft.

This was a green nock about a week old. The arrows were purchased from a chain store so I have no idea how long they've been on the shelf.

All GT nocks are prone to failure. Like Dan Adair,I switched to the Eastons.

So what size and brand nock do you replace them with. I was told by ********* Archery the Bohning signature nocks would work perfectly, but they dont, they are a loose fit in the 1535 and 3555 traditional shafts, I also tried carbon express, but they wre loose also, the gt shafts are .246, and most other brands are .245, not alot of differance but just not quite the tight fit that I would like, all suggestions and info would be welcomed

Also adding to the last post above, I am in no way putting down ********* Archery, and I did not call them back to tell them of the problem, not worth it to me, for a few dollars. I have had great service from them, anyway just saying

I have shot Carbon Express Heritage shafts with Gold Tip nocks for several years without any breakage. I like the Gold Tip nocks because they fit in the CX shafts a little more snug and stay in better. Guess I will stay with them since none have broken.

I think I read this tip here somwewhere:  I use Easton nocks and plug them in through a plastic grocery bag that acts like a shim.

I know the Easton Super 3d nocks fit awesome...and they are a tad longer than the GT nocks,  which I like.  Guess to avoid ruining any bows,  Ill spend the few bucks and buy a good supply of the Easton nocks.....better safe than sorry,  out hundreds and stuck with a loooooonnng wait for a new bow!
