Gold Tip 5575s Advice

Thanks for all the advice. I was able to bare shaft shoot a 28" and 30" 35-55 and they both were nock left (weak) for a RH shooter. They shoot ok with feathers but they are a bit noisy.

I got a hold of one 29" 55-75 with 100gr insert and 145 tip with feathers. It shot good and was much quieter. I think it would bare shaft a little stiff though.

Good info on this thread. I just got a 45# KMag and have a 53# Bingham-style recurve; have been shooting 55-60 spine woodies with 125gr points but I want to set up some carbons. I happen to have six new 5575's cut to 29.25" left over from wheelie bow days; thinking about refletching those and putting 200 gr points up front. Think it's worth the trouble?

My arrows are more like gray buffalo's I shoot 3555's with 100 grain insert and a 175 grain tip with full lenght 30 inch arrows, these fly very good, and weigh in at 535 grains

I shoot 50# at my DL (29 1/2"). I shoot 30.5" 55/75 with a 100gr brass insert and 3 - 4" parabolic feathers. It tunes great out of my Sarrels Blueridge takedown longbow and my Sarrels Bobcatt takedown recurve.

My 55# MOAB likes 55/75's at 28.5" with 350gr up front. I also shot them out of my 60# Wallace Recurve with 200-225gr up front. Both setups flew like darts out the respective bows.

If only it would be possible to buy just to arrows, i would buy one 5575 and a 3555. I have the same problem with my Spikeman 52# @ 29.5/30... I want durable arrows because I brake too many and I reckon the GTs are a good investement. Dang with having no extra cash...

I recently purchased a 50# Predator recurve by Ron Pittsley. The Gold Tip 3555 that I have seem to be a bit light. I'm thinking about trying some 5575 gold tips and putting the 100 grain brass insert in them and experimenting with 125 and 145 grain tips. I have a 28 inch draw but like shooting a 29 or 30 inch arrow.

Any suggestions?

I'd start with a couple of arrows with 100 gr inserts and go from there.
Right now, I'm shooting @ 20 yds, full length GT5575s with 175 gr field points with my 45# Bear Grizzly. This works for me.
I have shot EFOC with 100 gr brass inserts and 225 gr field points, this worked very well @ 10 yds. But, at a local 3D shoot my EFOC arrows were too heavy and consistantly shot low to the target.

I have two sets of predator limbs that can help I pull 28"
The 54 lbs shoot gt5575 with 225 up front 29.5" long
The 51 lbs need them longer 30" or so

I shoot a 50lb at 29 inch draw bob lee recurve and I used to use 55/75 gold tips with regular insert and 200 grain points and they shot like darts out of my bow. I would start with maybe 4 arrows three fletched and one bare shaft and try the regular inserts first just use hot melt so you can get inserts out easily, you can always try brass inserts if your shaft is too stiff later or you could trim a little of the shaft at a time if your weak. Just me 2 cents

Most of my bows are in the 52# range and I shoot GT5575 cut to 29>5 with 100gr. brass inserts and 200gr. points. They fly great for me with that set up.
