I know, what took me so long!

I picked it up at BigJim's tent at the KY Trad Fest 3 weeks ago. Imagine my surprise when I arrived home, opened the vacuum sealed package, and found the book was a signed copy!

I'm sure many of you have read it.  It is a terrific read.  It is so interesting to hear about how bow hunting was conducted in and around the 1950's.  There is also a lot of action in the 70's and a bit in the 80's.

Observations:
1. I wish I had read this book before I met Glenn St. Charles with so many others at a couple PY Banquets. I have to admit, I didn't appreciate the man enough.

2. The story about coming upon the group of Dalls Sheep rams and emptying his quiver was wild.

3. The book is very honest with hits, misses, successes and regrets.

4. Lots of tidbits of personal information about Fred Bear and his and Glenn's hunting "cronies" (a word Mr. St. Charles uses in the book).

5. Some of his conclusions about bow hunting fair chase and ethics were interesting and with a decidedly western flavor.

I rate this as the best bowhunting book I've ever read.

Compton is my next project. I know the name, I joined the organization thanks to Mr. Asbel's recommendation, but I know nothing about him. He was mentioned a couple times in this book.

Must read for every trad hunter IMHO! Great book! Agree 100% Roy on all you said. GSC is one of my heroes.

Very similar is Mike Mitten's book "One With the Wilderness". Full of hunt stories just as exciting & revealing of a true bowhunter as Bows on the Little Delta. Both make you wish you were there!

I read "One With the Wilderness" a day before reading this one. I don't have any bows with me on this trip (3 weeks) and am catching up on some reading!  Mike's book was loaned to me by a friend and co-worker who lives in MD.

I have to give that one back.

I ordered Primal Dreams DVD right after reading "One With the Wilderness".  It will be waiting on me when I arrive home.

It is my favorite Trad book of all time.

It was a really good read about bows and life in general written in a plain talking style by an unpretentious writer-a truly great man!

I agree it is a great book! I reread that book every year or two just to relive the adventures!!!

Yep, Bows on the Little Delta is by far my all time favorite trad bowhunting book.  Probably my favorite book of all time, period.  Great stuff!

This makes me want to reread my copy!Great book and great adventure.

My first thought was, "$40 for a book?", now I would gladly pay that again...excellent read!

Those who haven't seen this book, it has almost as many pictures as my old Action Comics!  ( and much cooler).

I heard that Primal Dreams had a lot of pics, too.
