Evening folks im fixin to try wood arrows again, something just keeps naggin in my head to shootum.my goal is to make good durable arrow for hunting. I have been told externally footing a wood shaft with 2-3" of aluminum makes the arrow stronger...is this true and will it increase the spine of the shaft?        Thanks folks

Here's an opinion. I really don't see how the aluminum footing will strengthen the front end of the arrow. My experience has been that most breaks occur right at the back edge of the head.

Perhaps on a blunt tipped arrow and run the aluminum footing up over the blunt.

I don't believe it would change the spine enough to matter.
