I recently acquired a dozen 5575s from a local shop. Before I bought them I paper tuned the same shaft, at the pro shop,  with every head they had, 100gr up to 200, and they all shot bullet holes. I thought this was odd, as I have had fits trying to tune aluminum shafts in the past with any tip. I also shot several on the indoor range. After deciding to give it a try I bought a dozen 5575 arrows. Shortly after, I took them home and shot them outside in the yard. Now it may be me, as the fletching is very bright and I can really see the spin on the  arrow, but I thought I noticed arrow flight issues. I have the arrows cut at 29 inches with 175gr tips and I am shooting them out of a 58 pd BW recurve. What do you guys think? Not stiff enough? To heavy up front? I am relatively new to this, but I have begun to obsess over my arrows and how they fly. Thanks for the help.

Really? I thought with a 175 tip I would not be stiff enough. A 5575 is a 400 spine right?

I used to shoot 5575 out of my 60# black widow recurve.. 30" with 100grains behind the insert and a 125gr head

I agree with jameskerr bump up the weight a touch

I'm shooting 55/75 Trads, cut 30.5", drawn to 29.5",  with 260 gr. points, out of a 55# recurve.  The bare shafts are hitting with the fletched, so I'm looking good so far, need to stretch the distance some though.

If I were you, I'd put more weight up front and see what happens, you'll likely see an improvement.  Bareshafting your setup could be helpful as well.

Well, I bare shaft tuned the 5575s today and they would only group with 125s on the front. I shot 175s and they were way to weak. I don't know if cutting a half and inch would allow me to add any weight to the front or not. I thought a 5575 would have plenty stiff for my bow.

I'm shooting a 58@28 Horne longbow and a 56@28 extreme R&D longbow with that arrow set up (55/75-175grain)and I'm getting nice flat arrow flight ....so you should be close...IMHO

My GT 5575 are 30 inches, 4 inch feather  with 225gr's up front and they shoot straight out of my Maddog MUTT 45@28.

Form (release, bow arm, etc.)flaws may be a possibility. Arrow tuning is like chasing your tail if you have issues with the above.

If you're shooting GT inserts and not weighted inserts I personally believe that the 125 grain should be about perfect or close to it if you have a 28" draw... You may find a little more forgiveness shooting the 100 grain inserts with 100/125 grain field points. With the heavier arrow setup you'll have a much quieter bow. Good luck!!!

Are all the feathers on your shafts the same color or do you have a cock feather that's different color?

I've had people swear arrows were wobbling because they saw a different color cock feather moving as the arrow went down range.  When I took the same shaft and fletched it with 3 of the same color it magically cured the wobble...

Thanks for the replies guys. My cock feather is a different color which certainly adds to the visual. (two bright yellow and one white) I believe I have found the arrows to be to weak for my bow. I bare shaft tuned them with my 45 pd Grizzly with 225 up front they tuned perfectly, as H-Maneod above says they do with his setup. I will keep them and use them out of my Bear and get some stiffer arrows for my widow.
