I have a dozen of the Goldtip Nugent Zebra type arrows. I plan to hunt and use these in my 59 Kodiak Bear Recurve for the 2012 year. I would like to change the color. Have any of you ever painted carbon arrows? If so what type of paint did you use and did it have good wear ability, also how well did the fletch hold on. Thanks.

Treat the like any other shaft material. Good clean prep and go to town. I've used Bohning and spray paint with success.

Never had a problem using Bohning Products and I've crown dipped Gold Tips, CE's and Arrow Dynamics. You do need a white base if you plan on using any colors, especially florescent....like Hot Pink

I have some goldtip traditional that I used safety orange spray paint from lowes. I was having trouble finding the arrows in the brush so I used it for wraps and added some cresting to it. Then I brushed about 3 coats of polyurathane to seal it. Have it on about 3 months now. Fletchings are staying on fine and still looks likewhen I first put it on.

Thanks fellows. Somehow I had forgotten about the good old Bohning products. I have certainly their products in the past. Shoot Straight and Good Hunting.

Just use wraps from OneStringer.  http://www.onestringer.com/

Easier and fast.

Are you going to paint the whole shaft. I have found out that the spray paint chips off in time. When you miss the target. Bohning stinks and is not good to breath in.

I cap only with Krylon (the one for plastic). It will chip a little but has lasted over a year on my 3-D arrows which get used hard all year. I fletch with Bohning fletch tape.

For a full shaft paint job it would hold up fine for hunting arrows but 3-D it would wear on the point end.

Yes my plan is to paint the whole shaft. And I at times I do use some wraps where the fletchings go, so in this case they will certainly be the order of the day. Again thank you much fellows.
