I refinished last month a Browning Explorer with tru oil(put like 4 coats) and a month later the oil odor is still strong.Should I sand it again and use urethane?Does Urethane smells equally? Thanks in advance.

TruOil is a linseed based finish. Give it time, it'll go away. Quite frankly I  like the smell, but then again I've done a lot of rifles in linseed and maybe I'm biased.

I have used Tru Oil lotsa' times on bows and arrows-never a problem.

Ground Hunter

I've use it often - smells like success!

Bowwild

Wow, I took a double take. I thought my wife started this thread!

I love the smell of linseed oil. And I wouldn't think animals would associate it with humans.

you could always take it out in the yard and roll it in something dead . works for my dogs after I wash them and they don't want to smell like shampoo .
Try to be the person your dog thinks you are :0)
