Time is s-l-o-w-l-y ticking by. Due to arrive 3/15.

I know there's a bunch of threads about Ray's but please share anything you would like for a newbie hog hunter.

I so desire to take a hog with the HH or Dave Johnson bow, but I broke out the Fred Bear Grayling Super Grizzly and she's calling hogs. I shot it for only about a dozen arrows this morning and I came close to breaking numerous nocks after a three month absence of shooting her.

The between season Tradgang time....

Oh the wait....  :campfire:

You're gonna have a great time. Great place and good people= a hunt to remember. My advice would be listen to Ray and Mike. They've been doin this a long time.

My personal advice is avoid the creek banks if you can, they're slick.

You are going to have a great time. Ray is an outstanding host, and the countryside there is beautiful. Pay attention to everything Ray says about hunting hogs. He knows the land and the hogs and he wants his guests to have a good time.

Hog Heaven is a place with lots of magic. I've been there twice and I'm going back as soon as I can manage it.

Go slow and see much. Make sure you have one of those little puff bottles and check the wind often.

Anyone make a wind cheker on their own? Maybe out of corn starch?

I'm arriving the 14th by accident, so I will have a day and a half to do some sightseeing.  Maybe the NWTF place.

I have the broadheads all mounted on the arrows in my avatar and just got them KME sharp.  They will be powered by my Two Tracks (H)Ambush.

Clothes have all been sprayed with that tic repel stuff, just waiting to do some stalking now.  Been practicing by sneekin up on my boys and scaring them.  They think it's getting old, but I don't.  LOL.

Looks like it's warming up for you guys, that won't hurt! It might be wet, so don't count on your wind feather working if that is your plan A. Take a puffer bottle.

Also I'd suggest packing a small pair of garden shears in case you need to cut yourself out of a thicket.

Have fun and enjoy the eats!

Yeah, Bud, I use corn starch in a little glue bottle I got at the hobby shop.  Works great to squirt a little on the currents and see what's happening.  Best of luck on the hunt--I dearly love hog hunting.

Good time of year in SC. Was there. You will have a great time. Was my first hog hunt. Did not kill any but saw my far share.

Get the couch if they ask..... I am a early riser. Had hole room to my self.

I was just down that way and the best thing that seemed to work for me was a little piece of feather tied to a thread and put on the top part of the bow.  That way when you are stalking you can always watch the wind without to much movement.

I just returned from Ray's. Man, I'm beat! We hunted hard, the hogs weren't all that co-operative, but we sure had fun! We all had  sightings and a few of us put on stalks.

I finally saw 6 young ones in the last hour and promptly missed one. Then big mamma stepped out of the canes at 15 yards! Holy Crap she was huge! I quickly nocked another arrow but she led her troupe off into the short pines. My heart is still racing!

We had 1.68" of rain on Saturday! To say things got soggy would be an understatement. I was all the way down by the boat landing when it cut loose. It was a looong walk back in the rain!

This was our 4th trip to Ray's and have already booked our next two hunts. We sure have a blast at Hog Heaven!

If I'm the only one back for a repeat trip when I go on the 29th, the first thing I'm doing is claiming that couch.

I was just reminded by Julian, that we get to partake in The St. Jude "Poundcake".  I had forgotten all about that.  So much for my diet.
