I have been shooting carbons and they fly great but i am tired of adding weight tubes and brass inserts, and frankly they add up quick on the wallet. I am looking to switch to aluminums, a buddy suggested 2117's but i dont have an idea of where to start.

My current arrows are gold tip 55/75's cut to 30 1/2" 5 gr per inch weight tubes 100gr brass inserts and 125gr broadhead/fieldpoints

My setup is a shrew classic hunter carbon, 57# @ 28" and i am drawing a shade under 30".

I dont have the software to run stu's calculator, and dont know the input for cut to center for my bow, any help is appreciated....thanks again guys

Based on memory (have not shot aluminum in years) 2117s sound about right but I am sure others will chime in that are more knowledgable on Aluminum than I am.

I think a 2216 would be a good choice for your setup with that long of a draw length.your actual weight you are drawing is probaly 61-62.

Given your draw wt. is 57#@28" and your drawing 30", You might find the following in the arrow chart. 57# + 6 lbs (30") is 63# at your draw.
In 3 Rivers chart, under Aluminum, right side find 63 + 5 fast flight string = 68# with 125 Gr.
Looks like .400, but

If you bow is real fast, and close to center shot, select from the chart on the left. For 68#
(fast flight string) the chart says .300 spine.

The Easton Chart will show you what arrows have that spine at 30".  If your mounting broadheads, you want to be in the middle of the range, not the top, because you will probably cut the arrows 3/4" longer.

In either case, the 2117 is going to be too light IMO.

Most of this is a starting point. Browse the charts and become familiar with what they are asking. Easton also has a dynamic spine chart, but I did show the link, because the two previous posts, offered something similar.

I would try a 2216 with 125 up front.

I would think a 2117 will be a good fit, and it will not be to light of an arrow.

i have been looking at charts for both 2117 and 2216 they are showing the same  grain per inch rating for the two arrows...Im guessing the arrows are the same weight with the 2216 having a stiffer spine than the 2117 ?  Is this correct?

Yes, the 2216s are stiffer in spine.
