Hi all,

Well I have just had landed (from the guys at Kustom King) a new feather burner and I was after a few ideas/styles of fletchings some of you guys burn away for your arrows.

Cheers from aussie,

Here's one I came up with, kinda like one of the old Vario Clipper options("Orca" cut I think)...5" long and low profile.

I like a modified shield. I soften the angle, hoping to keep it quiet. I like to feel the angle on my face a full draw. When I shoot a parabolic, it makes me feel around for the corner that isn't there!

These are about 4.5" long.

Funny I was just thinking about this this other day, Al.  What got me thinking about it was looking at my wife's RAV4.  Looking at the windows I got to thinking that the shape of all of the windows on the side would make a great looking fletch shape.  Then I started noticing all kinds of the newer SUV cars have window shapes that would make good fletch shapes.

Here's a pic of the car.

StanM

Might need to stretch the whole thing out but I think the overall shape would make a great fletch.

WJackson11x

Stan, that would make a great looking feather.  I say go for it and post some pics.  Great imagination too.

Yeah but very ingenious. The car companies have done the wind tunnel testing already. "The Corvette" fletch...I like it Stan.

Make up wooden forms (pattren in card board first) then you can bend to shape the fletching burner ribbon just remember to make it a little smaller(hot ribbons expand) the forms then can be stored and reused if you want to change shapes and go back to a older shape
As we get older our bow weight goes down and our body weight goes up, One of Lifes little jokes.

Al,
I did a thread about the same topic, I also draw them on card board and then use small nails and tack them in at all the bends about an 1/8th inch from the bend and use them to bend the ribbon. And as mentioned the ribbon will sag, so I take a dowel taper and nock one end and put feathers on it and use it as a tester. after I burn one feather I match it up to the cardboard form and adjust as needed and burn another feather on the dowel, by the last feather you should be good.

In the link you will see the shapes I drew and other members shapes.

Stan   if you ever rode a motorcycle on the highway you would understand my statement.

When a minivan or SUV goes by me I can often not hear my bike (it isn't quiet) due to the high pitch whine of the vehicle.  I am really not sold on their aerodynamic nature.
