never saw much sport in killing them, if you catch one one the ground you can kill them with a stout branch. In the tree they just sit and loook at you.  As far as eating I have had some that tasted fairly good and some that were out and out horrible the good ones were covered in a good BBQ sauce and that probably had a lot to do with it.

Still looking for a few quills for a craft project,  anyone have some available?

I see them a lot in Spring Gobler season. It must be mating season because they are walking around all over some place. Cant see much sport in shooting them, you can walk right up on them.

Are you allowed to shoot them in PA?

I have a Cabin in Sullivan County...please, PLEASE someone go up there and knock a few off! They are quite a nuisance! Very distructive critters when they want to be!

They are fair game...this from the PA digest.  I just read where they are considering lowering the limit though.  Apparently there has been some concern about black market sales etc. and they fear possible over harvesting.

I live in Steuben county NY, I see a lot of them in april and may. Probubly their matting season.I plan on killing a few thjs spring for the quills and to knock the population down a little. They have done considerable dammage to the trees on my wooded property.
