I have been playing with new arrows and noticed that my strike plate is showing excessive wear like never before. My first though is 'stiff arrow'. These arrows paper tuned nock high and left, showing weak and the need to lower my nock point. I did not want to go to a lighter point so I grabed a different string to experiment, a 12 strand ts-1 from a 9 strand d-97. Part of my perpose was to have better nock fit also. Any thoughts on what would cause the strike plate wear. I am going to shoot through paper again.

Tune your arrow to the bow,dont try and short cut by changing string,plate,rest. If the plate is wearing and the paper show weak then guess what its weak.You will waste more time and effort trying to compensate then it takes to fix it.JMHO

I had this problem once on a bow that was not cut to center, slightly outside of center.  Every arrow (ranging from carbon express heritage 75's all the way to 350's) that I shot out of this bow looked weak when bareshafting it.  Due to this I built out the strike, still no change.
I finally had someone help me out that had far more knowledge than I had.  Come to find out, I was getting a false indication.  I took off the strike plate that I had built out, replaced it with the thinnest one that I could find, and added more point weight to the heritage 75's.  I was finally able to get it tuned.

It's very possible to get a false weak like that because the overly stiff arrow is slapping the strike plate and kicking the tail left.  

That would expain both your plate wear and your paper tuning results.  Got a heavier point around you can experiment with?

Yes usually a way too stiff arrow acts this way.You can also hear more noise as well!
