I know BW recommends their 54" PCH for draw length up to 26" just curious anyone have a 54" that they draw 27" or more and if so share your opinion......stabow

I'd go with the Widow Boys recommend! I love a 60" recurve widow,They rec. a 58" for a PCH or a KB,I've got a 283/4" draw.  They were right on!! You can always do the test drive?

Sorry my PCH limbs are 56" and 58" and I have a child's draw length.

I own a 56' PCH and draw to 27" on my best day. Very comfortable to shoot.  Speeking with Toby at kalamazoo BW does not recomend the 54" for my draw. I did not shoot the 54" but did draw it, there was a big differance in the comfort level compared to my 56".  On the other hand I also shoot a 50" Two Tracks that is very smooth. I had a friend draw it to 31" with the Bowyer (Chuck Deshler) watching and it did not blow apart. Not very smart but Chuck said it would be OK. Hope this helps.

When a bowyer says a max draw length on a bow that doesn't mean that you can shoot it longer if you want.  It means that it runs out of limb at that length and will go up in smoke at longer lengths.

There are bows that are short and designed for longer lengths that will serve you purpose much better then getting wacked on the head with a bow that the bowyer will not warrentee.

I have a 54"PSR and draw it to 28".  It's smooth all the way and doesn't stack for me.  I love it.
I'm getting more dangerous all the time...

Thanks for the input fellows. Will be talking to the Widow boys at the shoot coming up hope they have a lefty I can try out.....stabow

Stabow,
The wife's trying a DEMO lefty 54" PCH that is marked 45@28"... It just arrived this afternoon and we'll be mailing it back to Black Widow on February 20th after she tries it.   Give Roger a call to reserve it if it's in your weight range.   I won't be much help in critiquing it since I'm right handed...

I have a 54" 56" and a 58" pch.  I draw 28.5".  My absolute favorite one is the 54" it is super smooth and no stack.  In my opinion you can not get a better stand and blind bow.  I can go ahead and assure you that widow boys will try to convince you to get a longer bow.  But I think you should give it a try and decide for yourself.

stabow

I hope they have one that I can try at the upcoming shoot. I have plenty of longer bows ranging from 68 to 58". I was just having trouble believing that a Widow would self-destruct by drawing it 27", their pretty much bullet proof. Again thanks for the input....stabow

BW would benefit by providing by a longer draw length recommendation. Their testing, experience and integrity says 'no'.

Yes you could shoot a 54". I draw 28.5" and had a 54" PSR and it was perfectly comfortable. When I ordered my PCH, I bought a 56". It is fine but I kick myself for not going to the 54".

Their recommendations are based on what they consider comfortable on average. Their bows will not be damaged for drawing beyond the recommendations.

BTW, you are going to love the PCH!

I cannot comment on that draw and the 54" bow, but I have shot more than a few and owned a couple PCH's.  At a 29 1/2" draw, I did not care for the 56".  I love the 58 and 60".  For me the 56" at the same weight as the 58" felt stiffer, and then there is the finger pinch for split finger I noted a lot more.

I know this is an old post but to up-date things: The Widow boys had a 54" PCH up at the spring fling and they let me take it for spin on the course. It shot and handled well, smooth as butter on the draw. So I have about a 5 week wait before it arrives......stabow
