any suggestions for a great hunting carbon arrow for a 50# kodiak mAG. IM SHOOTING 2016 S. they are flying good. i would like try a carbon for hunting. anybody have any suggestions. also i will be shooting 125 broadhead. my arrows are 29 inches from inside nock to insert.any info would be helpful. im concerned about penatration. pros and cons welcome

I have a #50 K-Mag, and I shoot GT Exped. Hunters 5575, 28.5", w/50gr. insert and a 150 gr. point. They fly great.

I have an old K-Mag that is 50 pounds and it likes either a 28.5" 400 easton axis with a 150 grain point or a 340 Trad only cut to 30.25" with 100 grain brass inserts and 150 grain points.

thanks for the info guys i have some beeman ics 400s my boy is shooting out his compound the arey 8.4 gpi ill fletch one up and see what happens. also the easton arrow charts are calling for a 2117 for my set up. but 2016s are working ok. anybody shooting 2117s around 29 in long out of k mag.the boy hasnt made the transition yet.....

I've shot both 2016s and 2117s with that bow, and found that the 2016's flew much better. That was cut to 28.5", with up to a 175 gr. point.

I've never found arrow charts all that accurate or useful for trad arrow setups.

I have been shooting beeman ics 400's out of my #50 green k mag for years, I  they are 31 inches with a 125 grain tip, 5 inch straight fletch.  They fly real good.   I recently picked up and have been shoting some gold tip 5575's out of it and they need alot more weight up from to get them to fly close to the beemans. (75g brass inserts,+ 175g? tip, I think)   The beemans fly better but are less durable than the gold tips.  I think with some more tinckering I can get the gold tips flying good, but for now, the ics 400's are my go-to arrow  with my k mag.

that sound s great ill fletch one up tommorrow and give it a try. what type of broad heads are you shooting. im still shooting the 125/ 150 bear razor heads.did you have to build up the strike plate a bit due to the thinner diameter of the shaft on 400 ics arrows.how do they compare on penetration with the aluminums. i wacked one last year with 2016 aluminum it did well. im trying to gain a little more speed from the carbon. they may be clos in weight i dont know.

The ics 400's have been good for several deer, although unless I get a pass through the arrow is usually toast. I shoot muzzy phantom 4 blades, and on all three I had complete penatration, one pass through, two burried to the fletching, resulting in both arrows getting broken. Like I said before, they fly good but are not as durable as the newer/more expensive arrows. Hench why I am experimenting with the gt's.
For the stike plate, I just have the basic bear rug with leather strike plate. No spacers. The last aluminums I shot were 2117s and they seem to have about the same penatration if I recall correctly, although the ics's def fly flatterdown range and are faster. Don't know any speed numbers but just from shooting one to the other the beemans are noticeablly quicker.

When I shoot 125's I use 35-55 @ 29.5" w/100gr inserts.

I shoot 50 pounds as well. My setup is 30 inch Beman classic 500's with 225 grains up front.

thanks guys after the good feed back. i fletched 5 beeman ics 400 30 inches. with all i had were left wing i staight fletched them shot 125s and 150s they were both right on at 20 the 150s dropped out a bit around 28yard the 125s were still in, so i was pleased with the 400 carbons. my max weight is around 425 total ,should be enough to kill whitetails. funny thing is they flew the same as my 2016s at 29 in and also 125 or 150. this is a crazy game lol...............

I have two set ups that are good on a 50# K-Mag. First is a 29" CE-150 with a 125 head and 20 gr alum adapter, pretty quick and flat. Second is a 29.25" CE-250 with a 160gr head and a 75gr brass adapter, heavier more FOC and hits hard. Both fletched 3X5". I also shoot both of these off a center cut Shrew CH Carbon.

Gold Tip 55/75, 29.5" BOP,100gr. insert w/ 125gr. broadhead out of mine.

thanks for all the replies this was very helpful now i need to pick an arrow 2016 or beeman ics 400 i tried them both with different grain points.they both fly good. 30 inch beeman with 150 or 29 inch 2016 with a 125 both right on out to 25, although the bows a little loader shooting the carbon.
