I have some venison that I want to send to my son from St Louis to Mission Viejo, CA.

Any advice on the least expensive way to go (and still make sure it gets there OK) and advice on how to pack etc.

I have a styrofoam shipping container and plan on about 10-15 lbs of sticks, burger, steaks etc.

I hope this is trad related   :)

i have shipped it throught fed ex. alabama to texas. cooler with ice. 2 day delivery. i usually get there the next day. meat still frozen. hope that helps. n

If you ship it Priority Mail on a Monday,it will be there in 2-3 days and much cheaper than UPS or Fed EX.It would be ideal to put some ice packs in if you have room.None will replace your meat if it spoils.

I have about 6 or 7 freeze packs that I plan to include and pack it well with no dead air space. My main thought is if it will be Ok with the priority mail thing or buck up, bite the bullet and spend the extra cash. What a waste to have it ruined but what a bunch of cash to overnight it.

With flying him out from CA to hunt, out of state tag and now this, this venison is about $25 a lb  :)

You can use dry ice and it will remain in good shape.Thats what Omaha steaks does.USPO or fed ex or UPS it wont matter.I trust USPO first.
