Sounds like an eventful calling session.did you remember to get your caller or leave it for the big bad fox. Thanks for sharing.  :scared:

All this reminds me of a rainy day when my brother and I were slipping through a sopping wet pine plantation down in Mississippi. A hound hunter( it was legal then, don't know about now) came in and turner a dog loose.  He came up, silently in the wet needles, stuck his snout in Harry' knee crook, and took a big ole snork to see what he smelled like.  The yell stripped the feathers off 3 of my arrow, and we both were trying to climb invisible ladders to get away from  the grizzly bear.  We finally calmed down, and started down the log road again.  We hadn't gone 50 yards when we walked right under a giant, maneating owl.  When he blasted off, knocking limbs  and squirret nests all over us, werepeated the dance we had perfected earlier.
All I could think of was "Here be Dragons".

I can relate. About a month ago I was slowly making my way through some fairly thick timber.

Suddenly, from about 20 yards to my left, I heard a long, low, deep growl. It sounded like a really big dog.

I immediately took about 3 steps backwards, nocked an arrow and kneeled against the base of a big tree to cover my outline.

Whatever it was, it backed out silently and I never did figure out what it was. Needless to say, I got out of there before it got dark.
Could have been a Sasquatch.   :scared:    :scared:

:biglaugh:  I had a coyote let out a wolf-like howl about 30 yards in front of me as I was walking in well before daylight one morning.  Until then I didn't know that hair really CAN stand on end.

Yeah, you will get a little pucker when an owl swoops downs and knocks your lid off...never hear it coming.

Buddy of mine was dragin a deer out one night years ago. Kept hearing somthing walking around him. He was perty spooked anyway so he didnt bother to shine a light until he reached his jeep. When he finally got his hand on the door of his vehicle, he turned and shined his light. A hole pack of yotes had fallowed him out of the woods. He said they didnt cut loose until he got the deer loaded and was ready to leave. Scared the absolute crap out of him. I got a good kick out it when he told the story though.  :D

Love these kind of storys, Jason
