Have recently shot a 56" PCH and was pleasantly surprised on how well it shot and how quiet it was. Bow was very smooth @ my 28" draw.

Ok...now the dumb question...I draw 28", can I get away with a 54" PCH ?  Anyone have any experience with the 54"?    Appreciate the info.

God Bless,   Pierre

I think thats a long shot. Widows recomendation for draw length with the 54" ends at 26 inch draw and they obviously know best. I think it would stack sompin fierce at 28

Is there a reason you think that the 1 inch on each end will make a difference in your hunting scenario?

I love shooting 60 inch bows....and don't mind 62-64 either most times....but when I needed a shorter bow for certian stands, I dropped 4 inches and got a 56" PCH...and i SOLD a 58" bow that I had cause there just wasn't enough length difference to get me where I wanted.

Just curious....what length bows do you normally shoot?

And, I sure wouldn't go on the 'general populations' guess....I'd ask BW directly cause they WILL know and tell you what will and wont work.

Pierre,

Black Widow recommends 56" for 24-28" draws.  Since you're on the top end, I don't think it would be a great idea to push the envelope down to 54".

I believe that you'll realize a more stable & forgiving bow by going at least 56" if you draw a true 28".  Hey, if you get one please post a review.  I want one real bad!!

Keith, funny...rub it in..

Appreciate the advise.  Just thinking...

Terry,
I have been shooting short bows all my life.  I am one of those people who are vertically challenged. Sitting, kneeling and shooting from a tree stand with a shorter bow has always felt more comfortable. It sucks when you bang a limb tip or limb off the stand and watch the back side of your prey running away. With a bow much than 58" the string always hits my chest and is even worst with heavy clothing on. Bows I'm currently shooting are 50"-54".  Seems to work for me.  Will an inch either side make a difference do know, probably not?

Looks like I need to give Widow a call.

Thanks and God Bless,  Pierre

What ever length you buy you will love the PCH, I have a 58" CH and I will never part with it.

Why not have them send you a 54" bow with their try before you buy program?  Then just order a 54" bow if it works, or the 56" if it doesn't.  Either way it doesn't cost you anything if you order something, or just shipping if you don't.

The new KB would be more apt to work though a one piece. Let us know about your call results!

I'm 26" draw. I have 58 and  56" limbs for PCH. I've never shot any recurve that was shorter than 56". I can't evaluate the 58 and 56" difference because there are 3#'s difference in draw weight.

BW will likely recommend the 58"r even if you are just shy of a true 28 draw.

I offer this since this is the same advice provided me by Roger of BW.

If you talk to BW they'd prob say go with the longer per their listed recommendations.  I just bought a PL from them and wanted a 60"er for my 28" draw and was recommended strongly to get the 62".
