I am looking for info on this model longbow.  Shooting characteristics- smooth, quiet, handshock, speed.  Any insight appreciated.

I love them. Especially, the 2-piece TD. Easy to string because of moderate reflex-deflex.
I draw about 25.5" and my bows are tillered for this draw length. I use the 58" Spike SS.
With 10 grain/lbs I got 166-168 fps out of my Spike and only got about 4-5fps more out of my Morrison Dakota. But the Dakota is impossible to string safely without a stringer and Keith warranty is imho much better. I use a micarta handle and tonkin limbs and there are other longbows with much more handshock than the Spike. Also see Keith special sale on stock bows. I am a Field Representative of Keith and usually have test bows in the 45-50# range LH and RH, which I take to shoots and shows I go to.PM me if you want more info.

2. The bow I shot last fall just provided a little insite in the fact that many good boywers remain obscure. The bow I shot was smooth,quiet, devoid of handshock and demonstrated plenty of zip.

3. Should consider taking tecum-tha up on trying one before you buy. No advice I can provide will replace your own personal perception.

I've shot one,it was a good shooting bow,smooth and easy to shoot.I like a mild R/D bows like the Spike.For me like said your own perception is what will matter the most.Like for me I never shot a HH bow for along time because I've heard about all the handshock they have.But traded for one a few years ago,wow I don't know what everyone was talking about.I didn't feel the handshock everyone was talking about.HH bows can become addictive,they were all I shot for a couple years.I was upto to 5 of them within a year.I still shoot my Halfbreed these days,there is just something about them for me.

Thanks for the replies!  I have a mild reflex-deflex bow built by a friend of mine, Marc Lauver also formerly known a PAW bows.  It is an outstanding example of craftsman ship and design.  It is a beautiful, rugged and great performing bow that strings to the classic D shape and shoots a 10+gpp arrow with authority(10.6gpp@171fps-29"draw).  That is the type of bow I am looking for in the Spike. A simple & effective hunting partner.

I love mine. Quiet and fast. JK has been making bows longer than anyone else I know of.  Also the best warranty in the business. You won't be disapointed

Rock N'Bow, 4 Blade also has a 29" draw, what length is your Spike?

It's 64".  I think you could go shorter in length and still not have to worry about finger pinch.

I would like to go to 60" or maybe even 58".  I am waiting for a reply from Keith as to a recommended bow length for a 29" draw.
